After three months of commercial operation, Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien metro line 1 has helped many stores in the F&B (food and beverage) sector benefit by attracting a large number of passengers on the metro line.

Just a few steps away from Ben Thanh metro station (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City), Mr. HK (owner of a coffee shop in District 1) said that the shop has been operating since before the metro station was put into operation, but the shop's revenue has increased significantly since the metro officially opened.
“Currently, the F&B industry is facing difficulties, but since the metro started operating, the space is open and the location is convenient, so more tourists and people who want to experience the metro have come here. Therefore, revenue is much higher than the same period last year,” said Mr. K.
Customers choose restaurants near the metro because of convenience.
Mr. Le Hoang Hieu (living in Thu Duc City) shared that since the metro line connecting Thu Duc City to the center in District 1 in just 15 - 20 minutes, he always chooses coffee shops or restaurants within a radius of about 500m.
“I usually only choose and meet friends at cafes or restaurants near metro stations. It not only saves time and money but also effort when traveling,” Mr. Hieu shared.
Because metro tickets are cheap, averaging less than 10,000 VND/trip, many people have gradually gotten into the habit of traveling by metro, so not only coffee shops, but many pubs have also recorded significant growth.
People have been choosing drinking spots near metro lines after rush hour, especially since Decree No. 168/2024 was issued.
Accordingly, rush hour from around 6:30 to 8:30 is peak time, the number of customers on Saturdays and Sundays at stores along the metro line increases significantly.
Mr. Cao Chuc Quyen (manager of a restaurant in Thao Dien ward, Thu Duc city) said that the metro line has contributed significantly to the number of customers at this restaurant, including many customers who live in District 1 but also "take the metro" to Thao Dien to eat and return to District 1 according to the metro's operating hours.
Similarly, Mr. Le Nhu Y (salesperson at Vincom Thao Dien) said the number of visitors has increased by 30% compared to before thanks to the metro line.
“Many people get off the metro, go to the stores to experience and shop, and use the services in the mall because transportation is more convenient than before,” said Mr. Y.
Managers and owners at stores along the metro line believe that the F&B industry can benefit from the metro lines, with fast food and beverage businesses standing out.

Mr. Ton That Hung, owner of a broken rice restaurant in Thao Dien ward (Thu Duc city), shared that although the restaurant already had a fixed number of regular customers, thanks to the metro line, the restaurant welcomed many new customers, including international guests.
Lucas Moreau (35 years old), a French tourist, said that F&B stores at metro stations are convenient, especially for foreign tourists who do not know much about local restaurants.
“I feel that the F&B model around train stations makes it easy for me to experience the culture of each city I pass through without spending too much time,” said Mr. Moreau.
However, the F&B industry along metro lines does not have many options for customers using services at metro stations in general and tourists in particular.
