Overcoming the situation of "indifference to the Party, lack of Youth Union, and distance from politics" among a segment of the youth

NDO - On November 8, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics Youth Union held a workshop: Overcoming the situation of "indifference to the Party, lack of Union, and distance from politics" among a part of Vietnamese youth union members today.

At the workshop, Comrade Bui Hoang Tung, member of the Central Youth Union Standing Committee, Secretary of the Youth Union of Central Agencies, said that youth is a great social force, proactive, creative, leading in the cause of innovation, construction and protection of the Fatherland; playing an important role in the cause of industrialization, modernization of the country and international integration. Besides the great contributions of youth, there is still a group of young people who have lost their ideals and beliefs; falling into a state of "indifference to the Party, lack of Youth Union, and distance from politics".

The reason for this situation is that a part of young people tend to be selfish and individualistic. They focus on developing their careers, making money and satisfying personal needs rather than participating in socio-political activities.

Many young people show indifference to important political issues of the country, not considering them as relevant and affecting themselves and their families. They rarely follow politics, do not participate in discussions on policies and development directions, and are even unaware of the country's political events.

Student Le Nguyen Thao Phuong, Academy of Journalism and Communication, believes that laziness in studying political theory among students is also a manifestation of political alienation. Laziness in studying political theory not only affects each individual student but also poses many potential risks to the Party, the Youth Union and even the whole society. Indifference and laziness in studying political theory will weaken the sense of civic responsibility of students - the future generation of the country's owners.

First of all, being detached from political theory makes students easily drawn into pragmatic, selfish lifestyles and lacking in collective spirit. When lacking attachment to ideals and fundamental political values, students easily fall into a state of living for themselves, lacking concern for community and social issues. This not only weakens the spirit of solidarity, but also makes young people increasingly distant from the goals and ideals of building and defending the Fatherland. Being detached from political theory also makes students become indifferent, limiting or even losing their national pride and awareness of preserving and promoting the fine traditional values of the country.

When no longer attached to the history, traditions and core values of the nation, students are easily influenced by foreign cultures and lose their national identity.

This is a threat to the sustainable development of society, because the young generation is the pillar, the one who continues to build and protect the country.

In order for union members and young people to soon have political awareness, strengthen their faith in the Party, be absolutely loyal to revolutionary ideals, and actively participate in movements and activities of the Union, comrade Luong Quang Huy, Secretary of the Union of Political Academy Region II, said that it is necessary to attach importance to the work of educating revolutionary ideals through propaganda, education, study, research and application of Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh thought, the Party's policies, guidelines and resolutions into practical work and youth life; to build a new generation of young people who live with ideals, aspirations, beliefs and steadfastly pursue the goal of national independence associated with socialism, a rich people, a strong country, democracy, fairness, civilization, and faithfully and excellently continue the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.

Comrade Luong Quang Huy also said that it is necessary to promote education on revolutionary traditions, patriotism, and national pride; to arouse humanistic values among young people, to focus on propagating patriotic emulation movements, good people, and good deeds in all areas of social life. To do so, it is necessary to diversify forms of gathering young people and methods of grasping the situation; to proactively provide information, and promptly orient public opinion correctly for union members and young people in order to prevent signs of degradation in political ideology, morality, lifestyle, "self-evolution", and "self-transformation".

In addition, it is necessary to strengthen the organization of revolutionary action movements, create an environment to help young people promote their pioneering, voluntary and creative roles in all areas of socio-economic life, contributing to building and defending the Fatherland. Raise awareness, promote the intelligence and pioneering spirit of young people in proposing ideas and initiatives in advising on policy planning, implementing institutions; participating in scientific research, administrative reform, and performing political tasks of agencies and units. Organize programs to accompany young people. Continue to implement support activities, create conditions for union members and young people to have opportunities to study, practice, and develop comprehensively, focusing on essential and legitimate needs. Focus on improving digital capacity and foreign language proficiency so that union members and young people can proactively participate, grasp and make the most of the opportunities of digital transformation to create high-quality young human resources.

Sharing the same view, Dr. Nguyen Van Dien, Head of the Department of Political Economy, Regional Political Academy II, also said that it is necessary to innovate the content and methods of the Youth Union activities in an open direction, encouraging the participation and contribution of opinions from members. Instead of focusing on "dry" political reports, it is necessary to integrate activities of exchange, learning, sharing life experiences, developing skills, and at the same time creating an environment for young people to truly express their opinions and thoughts.

For example, building a training program to strive to become a "Global Citizen 4.0" to participate in the international labor market. The main goal of the program is to help young people better understand their roles and responsibilities in the global integration process, while equipping them with the necessary skills to compete in the international labor market. The program includes specific activities such as organizing international exchange programs, participating in international youth seminars and forums, to broaden their horizons and create learning opportunities for young people. In addition, foreign language and soft skills courses will also be included to help young people better prepare for the integration process. At the same time, the "Youth 4.0" movement will be launched, focusing on developing digital skills and innovative thinking in the context of the 4.0 industrial revolution.

These activities not only motivate young people to participate in Union activities and political tasks, but also help them see the practical value of participating in political life, thereby contributing and sticking with the Union for a long time.
