General Secretary To Lam receives Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore

On the afternoon of March 26, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore Lawrence Wong, who is on an official visit to Vietnam.

General Secretary To Lam welcomed and expressed his pleasure to meet Prime Minister Lawrence Wong again right after the two countries upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; emphasizing the important significance of this visit, demonstrating the spirit of actively implementing, concretizing the content, and orienting the bilateral relationship in the coming time, opening a new cooperation program between the two countries, and at the same time demonstrating the increasingly close, trustworthy, effective and lively relationship between the two countries.

General Secretary To Lam recalled his good impressions of the country and people of Singapore, thanked the Prime Minister, the Government and the people of Singapore for the warm and respectful reception that the Prime Minister, his wife and the delegation had given to the General Secretary, his wife and the delegation during their recent visit to Singapore; affirmed that Vietnam values ​​Singapore not only as a member of the ASEAN community, but also as a key partner, accompanying Vietnam in the process of development and international integration.

Highlighting the important contents that the two sides achieved during the exchanges with Singaporean leaders during the official visit to Singapore as well as the two sides continuing to sign many new cooperation agreements just two weeks after the visit, the General Secretary suggested that the two sides soon continue to concretize the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries through the signing of the Action Program to implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the 2025-2030 period.

General Secretary To Lam emphasized that the six pillars of cooperation within the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries are very important; proposed to promote cooperation between the two ruling parties and agreed on strategic orientations for training officials. The General Secretary also welcomed and supported the proposal to cooperate with Singapore in the field of green energy as well as the green power grid in the region; and to upgrade the VSIP industrial park system towards a greener, smarter and more connected direction.

On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam welcomed and appreciated Singapore's recent granting of licenses to open its market to Vietnamese agricultural and livestock products, and assessed that the two countries have many favorable conditions to expand cooperation on food security.

Prime Minister Lawrence Wong expressed his pleasure to visit Vietnam for the first time as Prime Minister of Singapore and right after the two countries upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; informed the General Secretary about the results of effective exchanges with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Vietnamese leaders on the basis of major orientations achieved during the visit; highly agreed with important strategic orientations for bilateral cooperation in the coming time proposed by the General Secretary, especially continuously consolidating political trust, enhancing mutual understanding and strategic coordination through exchanges at all levels and through Party, Government and National Assembly channels; effectively implementing existing bilateral cooperation mechanisms and establishing new mechanisms appropriate to the level of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; promoting economic cooperation, creating new momentum for development, promoting labor cooperation and people-to-people exchange; continue to closely coordinate to effectively implement cooperation agreements, develop bilateral relations substantially and effectively, bring benefits to the people of the two countries, and become a model of cooperation in ASEAN countries.

Agreeing to enhance consultation and coordination, and support each other at regional and international forums, especially at ASEAN and APEC, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong reaffirmed Singapore's stance on promoting regional and international order based on international law, strengthening solidarity and unity within ASEAN, and maintaining ASEAN's central role in the region.

The two leaders agreed to further deepen relations between the two ruling parties, maintain cooperation in training strategic cadres, study and establish a regular exchange mechanism to enhance mutual understanding, share experiences in national development, and create a foundation for bilateral relations in the future.
