Intel said it will extend the warranty period by 2 years for 13th and 14th generation Core chips due to instability issues on these generations of processors.
Intel has announced that it will extend the warranty for its 13th and 14th generation Intel Core chips by 2 years. The decision comes after a series of crashes and instability issues that have affected these chips in recent times. This problem affects all 65W and above chips, from high-end products to mid-range chips.

Normally, Intel processors will have a warranty period of 3 years. Thus, the new policy has increased the warranty period to 5 years for affected CPUs.
In addition, Intel is also deploying a patch to fix a bug that they believe is caused by microcode algorithms that cause high voltage, leading to unstable operation of Intel Core 13 and 14 chips.
However, the patches won't fix any damage that's already been done to the processor, meaning it's best to send the chip back for a replacement.
"Intel is committed to providing support to all customers who have experienced or are experiencing instability on their 13th and 14th Gen Core desktop processors," Intel's Thomas Hannaford said in a statement to The Verge.
The company also encourages users who own desktops with 13th and 14th Gen Intel Core processors that are experiencing instability issues to contact customer support for further assistance.
Additionally, Intel has confirmed that its 13th-generation Core CPUs have oxidation issues, but said that the bug only affects a small percentage of chips and is not related to instability.
Intel said the cause of the oxidation error has been fixed by adjusting the manufacturing process.
