The iOS 17 operating system has many attractive improvements. However, this version only has a few new models suitable for upgrading. Some older iPhones may experience slow performance after upgrading to iOS 17. The solution to this is that you can downgrade to iOS 16.6.1 without losing data, so you can rest assured.
To downgrade from iOS 17 to iOS 16.6.1, follow the steps below:
First, you need to back up your data to avoid data loss after downgrading. You can back up your data by backing up to iCloud, or you can back up on your computer via iTunes.
To backup data to iCloud, click Settings -> select Apple account -> select iCloud -> Go to iCloud Backup -> Click Back Up Now.
Next, prepare a PC with iTunes downloaded. Connect your iPhone to your computer until iTunes recognizes your iPhone. Here you can back up your data to your computer via iTunes.
Then, put your iPhone into Recovery Mode by pressing the volume up button -> Press volume down and hold the iPhone power button until the iPhone restarts and select Recovery Mode.
On iTunes, click Restore an Update -> Next -> Click Agree and wait for iTunes to automatically download the latest iOS 16 update version and then automatically restore the iPhone to complete.
After the iPhone successfully returns to iOS 16, you proceed to set up the iPhone as usual. On the Apps & Data screen -> select Restore from iCloud if you have backed up your data to iCloud or select Restore from Mac or PC if you backed up your data to your computer.
So you have successfully downgraded iOS 17 to iOS 16.6.1.
