Cooperation in overcoming war consequences is the foundation of Vietnam - US relations

At the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the afternoon of March 20, providing more information about the Government Newspaper's report on March 18 that a representative of the Meta Group (USA) said that while more than 90% of the aid programs of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in the world were cut, the cooperation program to resolve the consequences of war in Vietnam with the help of the US Government was still continued, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang emphasized: "Cooperation to overcome the consequences of war is considered the foundation in the relationship between Vietnam and the United States".

This cooperation contributes significantly to the process of reconciliation, healing and building trust between the two countries, opening up new opportunities for cooperation in other important areas.

The spokesperson added that many cooperation projects between Vietnam and the United States in this field are continuing to be implemented or restarted, including projects to clear mines and explosives left over from the war and detoxify Bien Hoa airport.

The continued and effective implementation of these projects will make practical contributions to strengthening the Comprehensive Partnership for peace, cooperation and sustainable development between the two countries.

On the basis of the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Partnership for Peace, Cooperation and Sustainable Development, Vietnam has been closely coordinating with the US to maintain the positive development momentum of bilateral trade relations.

In the coming time, Vietnam is ready to exchange and work in a constructive and cooperative spirit with the US side to share information, enhance understanding, and remove existing obstacles, in order to contribute to the stable and sustainable development of bilateral economic relations, meeting the interests of both sides.
