One of the biggest scandals to hit the global tech industry in recent years continues. The ouster of CEO Sam Altman has led most of OpenAI ’s employees to sign an ultimatum to the company’s board of directors demanding that Altman be reinstated.
At the same time, company employees also demanded the early dissolution of the "incompetent board of directors" that made the decision to fire Sam Altman.
Notably, the ultimatum also bears the signature of Ilya Sutskever, a board member who is said to have supported the dismissal of former CEO Sam Altman.
Ilya Sutskever even issued a separate statement, saying he “deeply regrets the board's actions.”
According to the ultimatum, if the board of directors does not meet the employees' demands, those who signed the letter will leave OpenAI to "join" Microsoft or other companies.
Today, more than 500 of OpenAI's 700 employees have signed the ultimatum.
Dozens of OpenAI employees had informally notified colleagues on the evening of November 19 that they intended to quit.
This comes after they learned that the company's founder - Sam Altman has decided not to return as CEO after discussions with OpenAI's board of directors.
At the same time, many employees expressed a desire to join new projects at Sam Altman or rival tech companies, especially Google, which is trying to find ways to attract OpenAI experts.
The current scandal is predicted to be able to “seriously hinder the development of OpenAI” and “forever change the development trend of the field of artificial intelligence”.
