More than 2.5 billion VND to support people with disabilities, orphans and vulnerable groups

On the morning of December 27, the Association for the Support of People with Disabilities and Protection of Children's Rights of Dak Lak province held a conference to review the Association's work in 2024 and deploy tasks for 2025.

Dak Lak province currently has nearly 80,000 people with disabilities, of which 22,716 people with disabilities are receiving monthly social allowances in the community (6,792 people with extremely severe disabilities, 15,924 people with severe disabilities); 13,723 children are receiving monthly social allowances in the community, of which 392 children under 16 years old have no source of support, 14 HIV-infected children from poor households, 3,464 children with extremely severe disabilities and severe disabilities, and 9,853 children under 3 years old from poor households.

In 2024, the Provincial Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities and Protection of Children's Rights actively and diligently mobilized resources in many forms, implemented 4 key sponsorship programs of the Association and coordinated activities; thereby helping 9,100 people with disabilities and orphans in difficult circumstances with a value of over 2.5 billion VND.

Chairwoman of the Provincial Association for the Support of People with Disabilities and Protection of Children's Rights Nguyen Thi Phi Thao spoke at the conference.

Notable activities include supporting health care, education, improving living conditions, supporting livelihoods, employment, and poverty reduction, such as: giving 130 assistive devices to people with mobility disabilities including wheelchairs, rocking chairs, and walkers; cooking 3,000 meals for the poor at the hospital; donating 25 bicycles and 186 scholarships to students with disabilities, orphans, and those in difficult circumstances; building 4 new charity houses (in Krong Nang and Ea Sup districts); coordinating with 3 units and businesses to provide regular monthly support to 7 cases of people with disabilities; organizing the "Mid-Autumn Festival for Children 2024" program for 2,800 students in Ea Tul and Ea M'Droh communes (Cu M'gar district); visiting and giving gifts on anniversaries, holidays, and Tet to 1,900 people; supporting 7,000 macadamia seedlings, etc.

In 2025, the Provincial Association for the Support of People with Disabilities and Protection of Children's Rights strives to effectively carry out key tasks such as: strengthening coordination with relevant departments and agencies to implement policies and regimes; actively focusing on mobilizing resources to support people with disabilities, orphans and vulnerable groups; implementing a QR code scanning campaign to support people with disabilities and orphans; promoting propaganda on Vietnam Day for People with Disabilities (April 18) and the Month of Action for Children; conducting investigations and surveys to specifically grasp the circumstances and needs of those in need of support and assistance; actively mobilizing and coordinating with sponsors to organize activities to care for people with disabilities and children in difficult circumstances; implementing an online sales training program for people with disabilities, etc.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities and Orphans awarded Certificates of Merit to 01 group and 2 individuals; the Provincial Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities and Protection of Children's Rights awarded Certificates of Merit to 01 group and 6 individuals with outstanding achievements in the protection of people with disabilities and orphans in 2024.
