Over 100 billion to 'upgrade' famous tourist route Ha Giang

The Ministry of Construction has just sent a document to the National Assembly delegation of Ha Giang province in response to the petition of voters of this province regarding the expansion of National Highway 4C.

National Highway 4C (section from Km153 - Km154+500) is still narrow, so it cannot meet the travel needs of tourists when coming to Dong Van stone plateau in particular and the traffic safety of tourists as well as Ha Giang people in general. Therefore, voters proposed a plan to expand National Highway 4C.

Responding to voters' opinions in Ha Giang province, the Ministry of Construction said that according to the Road Network Planning for the period 2021 - 2030 and vision to 2050, National Highway 4C belongs to Ring Road 1, the section through Ha Giang province is about 200km long, the scale of a level III, IV road with 2-4 lanes.

Therefore, the Ministry of Construction agrees with the proposal of voters of Ha Giang province on the need to invest in upgrading National Highway 4C to meet transportation needs, support regional socio-economic development and serve tourists visiting Dong Van stone peak.

However, the Ministry of Construction has not yet been able to arrange investment for the project in the 2021-2025 period due to difficulties in funding. However, in this year's maintenance plan, National Highway 4C has been allocated more than 100 billion VND to repair damaged road surfaces and works on the route to ensure convenient and safe traffic for people and vehicles.

The Ministry of Construction proposed that Ha Giang province prioritize balancing and allocating investment capital for National Highway 4C as mentioned above. In addition, the Ministry of Construction will coordinate with localities to report to competent authorities for consideration to invest in upgrading and expanding the route in the period of 2026 - 2030.

In the immediate future, the Ministry of Construction will direct the Vietnam Road Administration to plan maintenance and repair of National Highway 4C from Km153 - Km154+500 to ensure traffic safety for tourists and local people.

In the coming time, the Ministry of Construction will coordinate with the People's Committee of Ha Giang province to review and implement procedures to hand over national highways that will be decentralized to the provincial People's Committee for management, including National Highway 4C, and is expected to be completed in the first quarter of this year.
