
The workshop was organized as part of the plan of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army to organize activities to summarize 50 years of Vietnamese literature and art after the country's reunification. There were 60 presentations by managers, experts, leading scientists, artists, and famous theorists and critics participating, such as: Prof. Dr. Dinh Xuan Dung, Associate Professor Dr. writer Nguyen The Ky, Associate Professor Dr. Luu Khanh Tho, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Long; writers and poets: Vuong Trong, Chu Lai, Nguyen Bao, Tran Anh Thai, Mai Nam Thang, Nguyen Huu Quy, Bui Viet My, Nguyen Viet Chien, Anh Ngoc... That proves that the topic of armed forces and revolutionary war always has great appeal to readers and writers, and is a source of concern and contemplation with much enthusiasm.
Therefore, according to Colonel - writer Pham Van Truong - Director, Editor-in-Chief of the People's Army Publishing House, the workshop "50 years of literature and art on the theme of armed forces and revolutionary war after the country's reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025); achievements, issues and development orientations" is an opportunity to deeply and comprehensively evaluate the achievements, limitations, causes, draw lessons from literature and art on the theme of armed forces and revolutionary war; affirm the position, role and great value of literature and art in the Army, contributing to the construction and development of Vietnamese literature and art over the past 50 years.

At the workshop, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Duc, Director of the Propaganda Department, General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army emphasized: "After 80 years of accompanying the country, along with the flow of Vietnamese literature and art, literature and art on the theme of armed forces and revolutionary war have always been a source of great inspiration for artists. During the resistance wars for national liberation, defending the Fatherland and in the new era, literature and art on this theme always appear as an endless spiritual stream, arousing national pride, encouraging the fighting spirit, the rise and the spirit of great solidarity of the entire Party, the entire army and the entire people. Through literary and artistic works, they have contributed to orienting ideology, guiding people to the values of truth - goodness - beauty; fostering and building the noble qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers...".
Recognizing the great contributions of literature and art on the topic of armed forces and revolutionary war in the past 50 years after the country's reunification, Lieutenant General Truong Thien To, Deputy Chief of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, suggested: "In the spirit of frankness and openness, it is necessary to point out the limitations and shortcomings in the leadership, direction, management and organization of literary and artistic activities in the Army. From there, draw valuable lessons, creating a solid foundation for continued development in the right direction and more effectively in the coming time. I request that comrades propose strategic and breakthrough solutions in the coming time to contribute to encouraging and developing literature and art in the Army, focusing on the topic of armed forces and revolutionary war, meeting the enjoyment needs of cadres, soldiers and people, contributing to the cause of building and firmly defending the Fatherland in the new situation...".
Through the presentations of leaders, managers, and artists, we will look back on the past half-century. Looking back on the achievements of the past 50 years, literary and artistic works are not only meaningful domestically but also help international friends better understand the revolutionary war to unify the country and the image of the Vietnamese people, strongly arousing patriotism and national pride. In addition, the conference also pointed out some limitations and shortcomings, especially in management work, the work of building and developing the team of artists...; at the same time, it pointed out the causes, drew lessons from experience to suggest new policies, solutions, and directions for literature and art on the theme of armed forces and revolutionary war until 2030 and the following years.
