Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau emphasized that on May 26, 2020, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army issued Guidelines for implementing research and compilation work for 27 focal units under the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to direct and orient the content and methods of research and compilation, ensuring strictness right from the beginning of implementation. On the basis of the Directive of the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission and the Guidelines of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; Party committees and commanders of units have directed, organized, thoroughly grasped, and seriously implemented; proactively developed research and compilation plans.

For the level I project chaired by the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army for research and compilation, the Editorial Board actively collected documents and data; researched and developed the project outline and was approved for implementation by the Head of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army for implementation. The process of researching and developing the outline and organizing the research and compilation of the project was carried out closely, in detail, and in accordance with the procedures; many seminars were organized in the Editorial Board; opinions were sought from experts, scientists, and functional agencies of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; leaders and commanders of agencies and units under the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense; and leaders and former leaders. Up to now, the project has completed its draft.

The content of the work focuses on summarizing and highlighting the process of leadership, direction and comprehensive organization of all aspects of Party and political work of the Vietnam People's Army; at the same time, clarifying successes, limitations and causes; in particular, drawing 7 lessons from Party and political work of the Vietnam People's Army in performing the task of protecting the sovereignty of the borders, seas, islands and airspace of the Fatherland (1975-2020).

Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau emphasized that the success of the Project will contribute to educating traditions, imparting experiences, improving knowledge and capacity in organizing and conducting Party work and political work for Party committees, political commissars, political officers, political agencies, and commanders at all levels in performing assigned tasks and responsibilities; improving the efficiency and effectiveness of Party work and political work of each agency, unit and the entire army in general; and units directly responsible for protecting the sovereignty of the borders, seas, islands, and airspace of the Fatherland in particular.

On the other hand, the Project is also valuable documents and materials serving scientific research and teaching at military schools; propaganda and education at agencies and units, contributing to ensuring that our Army is always a political force, a loyal and trustworthy fighting force of the Party, State and people, excellently completing all assigned tasks in the cause of building and defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.

This morning, delegates continued to discuss and contribute ideas to improve the quality of the draft content; at the same time, deepen the summary of the process of leadership, direction and organization of Party and political activities of the Vietnam People's Army in performing the task of protecting the sovereignty of the borders, seas, islands and airspace of the Fatherland in the period of 1975 - 2020.
