Opening of Vietship 2025 international shipbuilding technology exhibition

This morning (March 5), at the National Convention Center (Hanoi), the 10th International Exhibition on Shipbuilding and Offshore Technology (Vietship 2025) officially opened.


The exhibition takes place from March 5-7, 2025, organized by the Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (SBIC) in collaboration with Vietnam Shipbuilding Engineering Joint Stock Company (VISEC).

Speaking at the Vietship 2025 exhibition, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Xuan Sang emphasized that the Vietship exhibition was held again after many years of interruption due to the Covid-19 pandemic, marking a turning point in the organization, continuing to affirm Vietnam's prestigious exhibition on shipbuilding and offshore construction industry.

Appreciating SBIC, sponsors, 103 businesses and more than 200 booths participating in Vietship exhibition this time, according to Deputy Minister Nguyen Xuan Sang, the exhibition was held in a very special context.

Vietnam has set an economic growth rate of 8% this year, so it is necessary to develop industries to realize this goal, including the marine economy, shipping economy, and shipbuilding economy. Vietnam is also implementing its commitment at COP26 to reduce net emissions to zero by 2050. At the same time, SBIC is implementing a comprehensive restructuring of the corporation.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Xuan Sang also said that, implementing the Government's resolution, SBIC is in the process of bankruptcy. However, the Deputy Minister affirmed that with the implementation of the resolution, SBIC and its members will eliminate the debt burden and revive SBIC itself. Moreover, the requirement is that SBIC continue to develop production and business and expand production.

"With the attention and direction of the Government, the Ministry of Construction, and the cooperation of partners and customers, SBIC will certainly successfully "transform", Deputy Minister Sang emphasized and called on businesses to continue to cooperate with SBIC in the process of doing business and restructuring the corporation.

Mr. Pham Hoai Chung, Chairman of SBIC's Board of Members, expressed his hope that the Vietship 2025 exhibition will open up new opportunities for cooperation and innovation in the development of the shipbuilding industry (Photo: Ta Hai).

Mr. Pham Hoai Chung, Chairman of SBIC Board of Members, said that maritime transport and shipbuilding industry are the sectors with the widest influence in the maritime economic development strategy of each maritime country. SBIC and its joint ventures operate in the field of large-scale shipbuilding and ship repair, accounting for more than 60% of Vietnam's shipbuilding capacity.

The Government is directing continued research into new policies to support the development of the shipbuilding industry, promote links with international partners, encourage infrastructure investment and support technological modernization.

Therefore, Vietship 2025 exhibition returns after a hiatus, with a completely new look, focusing on shipbuilding technology and offshore construction; many foreign enterprises participating come from: Norway, the Netherlands, China, Finland, Korea, Singapore. The main activities are booths introducing outstanding achievements such as: Equipment, materials and technology for new shipbuilding and repair; equipment and technology for offshore oil and gas exploitation.

In addition, Vietship exhibition also has activities to better connect units such as: Seminars to discuss the development orientation of the shipbuilding industry, the trend of environmentally friendly ships; between scientific research experts and businesses with state management agencies, buyer-seller forums; supplier seminars, to increase supply capacity; update the latest information on modern and advanced shipbuilding technology in the world... and other activities such as: Awarding typical products and beautiful booths, contract signing ceremonies and sports exchanges.

"Hopefully, the Vietship 2025 exhibition will be the beginning of the goal of creating solutions, investment cooperation and innovation in the development of the shipbuilding industry and renewable energy, offshore construction in the future," said Mr. Pham Hoai Chung.

A representative of Darmen Group (Netherlands) expressed his desire to contribute to making Vietnam a regional and world shipbuilding center, aiming for sustainable development (Photo: Ta Hai).

A representative of Darmen Group (Netherlands) said that after more than 30 years of presence in Vietnam, the group has built more than 650 ships, of which 600 ships are exported to other countries, and 50 ships are operating well in Vietnam.

Committed to contributing to making Vietnam a regional and world shipbuilding center, Darmen hopes to continue to become a shipyard in the future, delivering ships powered by sustainable energy to create a cleaner, fresher marine environment.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, the exhibition officially opened to visitors, with free admission. One of the key activities of the exhibition is the Buyers Forum, creating opportunities for suppliers and potential customers to meet and seek cooperation opportunities. The event brought together leading corporations such as DNV, Damen Shipyards, and domestic enterprises such as SBIC and VISEC.

Within the framework of the exhibition, seminars will take place with topics such as: Development of the Vietnamese transport fleet and shipbuilding industry; Opportunities of the shipbuilding industry, Vietnam's competitive advantages; Solutions and applications of green technology in the design and construction of Damen Group ships globally; Current status of the fleet of Vietnam National Shipping Lines (VIMC) and investment plans to rejuvenate the fleet; Introducing new conventions and regulations in building new ships using green energy; Inheritance and orientation of the shipbuilding industry in the digital transformation era.

Topics of interest will revolve around clean energy solutions, green technology and sustainable development trends in the maritime industry. This is also an opportunity for suppliers to introduce advanced equipment and technology to meet strict environmental standards, helping investors and businesses have more information to choose the most suitable solution.

In particular, the event is expected to witness a series of important cooperation agreements and new contracts signed with a total value of up to 60 million USD.
