(GLO)- On the afternoon of June 9, at the 2-9 Hall (Pleiku City), the People's Committee of Gia Lai province solemnly held a conference to commend advanced models on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's call for patriotic emulation (June 11, 1948 - June 11, 2023).
Attending the conference were comrades: Ho Van Nien - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Truong Hai Long - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Emulation and Reward Council along with typical and advanced collectives and individuals in the whole province.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Truong Hai Long affirmed: The conference is an important political event of the Party Committee, government and people in the province; a place to gather and honor emulation fighters, typical advanced and exemplary models - the fresh flowers in the patriotic emulation movements in the past time.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee commented: President Ho Chi Minh's call for patriotic emulation has the power to attract, motivate and call on the entire Party, people and army to promote the tradition of patriotism, the spirit of solidarity, the will to self-reliance and self-strengthening, overcome all sacrifices and hardships, and make glorious feats and great achievements in the revolutionary cause of our country. Emulation has truly become a driving force for the entire Party, people and army, leading the Vietnamese revolution from one victory to another.

Deeply imbued with Uncle Ho's teachings, Gia Lai province has strived to achieve many encouraging achievements, especially after 37 years of implementing the Party's renovation policy. The province has quickly seized the opportunity, exploited all the potentials and strengths of the province, taken advantage of the investment of the Central Government, called for investment for development and has achieved encouraging achievements, the scale and quality of the economy has developed rapidly. The average annual economic growth rate (GRDP) in the period of 2020-2022 reached 8.43%, the average GRDP per capita reached 60.45 million VND. In the period of 2020-2022, the total state budget revenue in the area reached 18,180 billion VND, in 2022 it reached 5,670 billion VND.
Up to now, 100% of communes, wards and towns have access to the national grid; there are asphalt roads to the commune centers; there is a smooth information system. The whole province has 3 district-level units and 91 communes meeting new rural standards.
The scale and quality of education have increased year by year, with special attention paid to ethnic education. By the end of 2022, 58.8% of schools in the province had met national standards. Vocational training has received attention; the rate of trained workers in the province has reached 38.42%. Poverty reduction has received attention and direction, achieving many important results, with the poverty rate decreasing to 10.06% (according to multidimensional standards for the period 2022-2025).
Cultural-information-sports activities are given attention, meeting the material and spiritual needs of the people of all ethnic groups in the province and contributing to improving the people's knowledge. The political system is constantly consolidated, the great solidarity bloc is strengthened, the people's mastery is promoted, social consensus is increasingly high, political security and social order and safety are maintained.

Speaking at the conference, Provincial Party Secretary Ho Van Nien emphasized: “With all my respect and sincere feelings, I would like to express my gratitude to the invaluable examples, efforts and contributions of the collectives and individuals who have been honored through noble titles and awards; the typical examples present here today and those who have not received the emulation title, those who are not here today. I also deeply believe that the beautiful examples are like flowers that make the flower garden of our entire nation more brilliant, they are the lights, the bright stars to illuminate many people who have not tried to work, build a career and contribute to the community to try and those who have tried will try even harder”.
To promote and improve the patriotic emulation movement and commendation work, meeting the requirements of tasks in the coming time, Provincial Party Secretary Ho Van Nien requested that all levels and sectors continue to thoroughly grasp and propagate the Party's guidelines and policies, President Ho Chi Minh's ideology on patriotic emulation; the State's policies and laws on emulation and commendation. On the other hand, it is necessary to develop plans and have specific measures to create a strong qualitative change, overcome limitations and shortcomings in emulation and commendation work. Emulation movements need to have practical and specific goals associated with the implementation of political tasks and socio-economic development of each agency, unit and locality.
The Provincial Party Secretary also requested that in organizing and implementing emulation movements, attention should be paid to checking, evaluating, summarizing, concluding, and promptly rewarding collectives and individuals who have achieved outstanding results. The commendation work must be timely, accurate, for the right person, the right job, taking the results of implementing political tasks as the measure of commendation; focusing on rewarding workers, farmers, and direct laborers. Through emulation movements, advanced models can be discovered, nurtured, and widely disseminated.
Party committees and authorities at all levels need to evaluate and select good examples to set examples and learn from, creating conditions for these examples to promote their effects and have a wide spread in society. At the same time, improve the capacity, effectiveness and efficiency of state management in emulation and reward work; select and arrange cadres with good qualities, ethics, strong political will, and a high sense of responsibility to do this work; improve the role and quality of activities, the role and responsibility of Emulation and Reward Councils at all levels.

At the conference, delegates interacted with 6 typical advanced individuals in various fields, including: Athlete who just won the gold medal at SEA Games 32 Le Thi Nhi; Doctor Tran Ke Toan - Head of Cardiology Department of the Provincial General Hospital; teacher Vu Van Tung - founder of "Zero-dong Bread Cabinet" in Po To commune (Ia Pa district); Ms. Dao Thi Thu Ha - worker of Olam Gia Lai Company Limited Branch; Nguyen Duong Anh Minh - student of class 12C3A Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted; Ms. Tran Thi Bich Ngoc - social and cultural officer of Kong Long Khong commune (Kbang district).

On this occasion, the Conference Organizing Committee awarded the Labor Medal to 2 groups and 7 individuals; presented the Government's emulation flag to 9 groups; presented the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit to 2 groups and 6 individuals. In addition, 1 group and 76 individuals were awarded the Certificate of Merit by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. Particularly, Gia Lai Newspaper had journalist Luong Van Danh - Deputy Editor-in-Chief - honored to be awarded the Third Class Labor Medal; Gia Lai Electronic Newspaper Department was awarded the Certificate of Merit by the Prime Minister.

At the conference, the Organizing Committee of the 4th Gia Lai Province Writing Contest "Good People, Good Deeds, Outstanding Advanced Models" (2022-2023) also organized the award ceremony. After 6 months of launching, the contest received 148 works from authors and groups of authors inside and outside the province. Among them, there were 78 printed works, 39 visual works and 31 radio works. As a result, the Organizing Committee awarded prizes to 44 works from 30 authors and 14 groups of authors; including 3 first prizes, 7 second prizes, 11 third prizes and 23 consolation prizes.
Specifically, in the spoken newspaper category, author Doan Ngoc Binh (Provincial Radio and Television Station) won first prize with the work “The Second Father”. In the visual newspaper category, the group of authors Nham Thuy Dung-Van Minh Trung (Provincial Radio and Television Station) won first prize with the work “Mother goes to school”. In the written newspaper category, author Le Thi Phuong Duyen-reporter of Gia Lai Newspaper won first prize with the work “Tran Thi Bich Ngoc: Deep love for Bahnar culture”.
