Most Venerable Thich Thanh Quyet, Vice President of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, President of the Vietnam Buddhist Academy and professors of the Academy received the delegation.

Speaking here, Venerable Thich Thanh Quyet said he was pleased to see the relationship between Vietnamese and Thai Buddhism developing very well.

A typical example is the An Nam sect (Viet sect) which has been respected and recognized by the King of Thailand as one of the only two Mahayana Buddhist sects in Thailand.

The monk shared that when he visited Thailand, he visited a Vietnamese temple here and was very moved to see the friendship that had been carefully cultivated by previous generations, leaving behind meaningful cultural heritages such as Vietnamese temples.

This is a heritage with symbolic significance about the history of friendship between the Vietnamese and Thai peoples that An Nam Buddhism continues to practice, following this meaningful work.

Mr. Mai Phan Dung, Vice Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese - Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that this visit to Vietnam is an opportunity to express gratitude to the abbots of Vietnamese pagodas in Thailand who have contributed to taking care of the spiritual and religious life of the Vietnamese community in Thailand; at the same time, promoting the close ties between the Buddhist Sangha of the two countries.

Mr. Dung expressed: "I hope that the Thai Buddhist Sangha Council will continue to support the activities of the Venerables and Venerables of the An Nam sect in maintaining the long-standing customs of the Vietnamese people, helping to unite the community and educate the young generation of overseas Vietnamese about their roots as well as encourage the Vietnamese community to contribute more to the prosperous development of the two homelands."

On this occasion, the Venerable shared about the role of religion in general, Buddhism in particular, for humanity and world peace.

The Venerable congratulated the development of Vietnamese Buddhism and expressed his wish that the connection between Thai Buddhism and Vietnamese Buddhism would become increasingly closer through the development and active contributions of Annam Buddhism.

In the afternoon of the same day, the delegation visited Khai Nguyen Pagoda, a spiritual destination that attracts many Buddhists from near and far in Son Tay town, Hanoi.

Here, the delegation was welcomed by Venerable Thich Dao Thinh, abbot of the pagoda, monks, nuns and Buddhists in a solemn and joyful atmosphere, leaving beautiful memories in the hearts of the delegation of An Nam Buddhist sect.
