(NLDO)- Vietnamese Bookcases are considered a valuable "resource" in encouraging the teaching and learning of Vietnamese abroad.

Valuable "resource"

According to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang, 2024 will witness an increase in activities connecting the Vietnamese community abroad and the country.

Annual events such as Xuan Que Huong, Overseas Vietnamese delegation attending Hung King's death anniversary, Overseas Vietnamese delegation visiting Truong Sa, Vietnam Summer Camp, Vietnamese language training course for overseas Vietnamese teachers... attract the participation of a large number of overseas Vietnamese from all over the world. The work of supporting the community to preserve and promote the Vietnamese language continues to be strengthened, through the implementation of the Project on Vietnamese Language Honor Day in the overseas Vietnamese community. Typically, the donation of 5 Vietnamese bookcases to communities in Taiwan (China), France, Czech Republic, Australia and New Caledonia.

The State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese said that activities and events honoring the Vietnamese language in many diverse forms and rich content have been widely organized at home and abroad; thereby recording many positive results, contributing to creating a solid foundation in teaching, preserving and spreading the Vietnamese language in the overseas Vietnamese community.

According to Vice Chairman of the Committee Nguyen Manh Dong, Vietnamese Bookcases are considered a valuable "resource" in encouraging the teaching and learning of Vietnamese abroad, especially in areas where there is no official Vietnamese language teaching program. Up to now, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in coordination with the Vietnam Education Publishing House has provided 5 bookcases to areas and provided books to serve the community in Austria, Laos, Hungary, Slovakia, Belgium, and Qatar.

In 2024, there were 5 excellent candidates who won the title of Vietnamese Ambassadors Abroad in the "Search for Vietnamese Ambassadors Abroad in 2024" Contest.

Ms. Tran Hong Van, an overseas Vietnamese in Australia, said that preserving Vietnamese culture and language is important to both the Vietnamese community in Australia, the Vietnamese community in Vietnam and the host country. Maintaining Vietnamese culture and language brings many "benefits" in terms of emotions, culture, intelligence and economy. Preserving Vietnamese language and culture of the overseas Vietnamese community acts as a bridge connecting the two communities closely, creating conditions for communication, exchange, learning and opportunities for Vietnam to interact with cultures, develop economy, science and technology of other countries in the world.

"Vietnamese messengers need to do a good job of connecting and creating a global network of messengers to share experiences and resources in order to better fulfill their assigned roles," said overseas Vietnamese Tran Hong Van.

Many overseas Vietnamese believe that it is necessary to continue building libraries, introducing books, and spreading Vietnamese culture in other countries. The project to honor the Vietnamese language needs to be widely promoted, with many diverse and rich forms, creating a spread and attraction so that more and more people can participate.

Preserve and cherish the "soul of the nation"

President Ho Chi Minh once said, "Vietnamese is the soul of the nation"; "Language is an extremely ancient and extremely precious asset of the nation. We must preserve it, cherish it, and make it more and more widely popular." Following his teachings, the work of preserving, promoting and spreading the Vietnamese language and the traditional cultural identity of the Vietnamese people has always received attention and care from the Party, the State and the overseas Vietnamese community, and has achieved many encouraging results.

In particular, over the past two years, the implementation of the Project "Vietnamese Language Honor Day in the Overseas Vietnamese Community for the period 2023-2030" has received widespread attention and response from the entire political system, people in the country and a large number of our compatriots abroad. The programs and activities are diverse in form, rich in content and innovative in implementation methods, creating an environment for exchange and improvement of Vietnamese language for generations of overseas Vietnamese, especially the young generation.

These are Vietnamese bookcases serving the community; training courses and workshops on Vietnamese teaching skills for more than 800 teachers and volunteers from more than 30 countries and territories since 2013. These are the proactive and active efforts of overseas Vietnamese and overseas Vietnamese associations in establishing specialized Vietnamese language committees; opening schools, classes, and centers for teaching and learning Vietnamese; organizing annual seminars, talks, and forums to share experiences on Vietnamese teaching and learning methods...

Along with that are the passionate ideas, tireless efforts, and inspiring stories of the "Vietnamese Ambassadors". Our compatriots abroad are the ambassadors of Vietnamese culture and language. Their efforts are day by day nurturing and spreading the love of Vietnamese language not only in the overseas Vietnamese community but also to local people and friends around the world, contributing to affirming the value of Vietnamese culture in the international arena.
