Nam Dinh: 5th artifact recognized as 'national treasure'

In the latest recognition, the Prime Minister recognized 27 artifacts and groups of artifacts from many provinces and cities across the country as national treasures that need to be managed according to the provisions of the law on cultural heritage.

On the afternoon of January 30, informing reporters of Dai Doan Ket Newspaper, Permanent Vice Chairman of Nam Dinh Provincial People's Committee Tran Anh Dung said that during the day, the Provincial People's Committee received Decision No. 41/QD-TTg dated January 30, 2023 of the Prime Minister, signed by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, on the recognition of national treasures, batch 11, 2022.

“In the 11th batch, in 2022, the Prime Minister recognized 27 artifacts and groups of artifacts as national treasures, including the Truc Lam Tam To statue set at Pho Minh pagoda (statue of Buddha King Tran Nhan Tong entering nirvana in a reclining position in the middle, statue of Phap Loa on the left and statue of Huyen Quang on the right - PV), dating from the 17th century, currently worshiped at Pho Minh pagoda, Nam Dinh city. This is the 5th national treasure of Nam Dinh province to be recognized by the Prime Minister,” said Mr. Tran Anh Dung.

Also according to Mr. Tran Anh Dung, previously in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th recognitions, Nam Dinh province was successively recognized by the Prime Minister as national treasures for the Amitabha Buddha Statue and the set of ceramic candlesticks and incense burners (Ly Dynasty, Ngo Xa Pagoda, Yen Loi Commune, Y Yen District); the railing of the steps of Chuong Son Tower (Ly Dynasty, Ngo Xa Pagoda, Yen Loi Commune, Y Yen District); and the model of a house in the Tran Dynasty (preserved at the Provincial Museum).

The statue of King Tran Nhan Tong entering nirvana in a reclining position at Pho Minh Pagoda (Nam Dinh) has just been recognized as a national treasure by the Prime Minister. The King is one of the three founders of the Truc Lam Zen sect.

In addition to the Truc Lam Tam To statue set at Pho Minh Pagoda (Nam Dinh), the artifacts and groups of artifacts recognized by the Prime Minister as national treasures in the 11th batch in 2022 also include:

Collection of An Khe Paleolithic tools, dated: 800,000 years ago; currently kept at Gia Lai Provincial Museum.

Tien Noi I bronze drum, dating from Dong Son culture (around 4th - 3rd century BC); currently kept at Ha Nam Provincial Museum.

Kinh Hoa II bronze drum, dated: 2nd - 1st century BC; currently kept at the Nguyen Van Kinh Private Collection, Hanoi city.

Dong Son Culture bronze jar, dated: 2200 - 2300 years ago (3rd - 2nd century BC); currently preserved at the Nam Hong Royal Museum, Tu Son city, Bac Ninh province.

Kinh Hoa bronze jar, dated: 3rd - 2nd century BC; currently kept at the Nguyen Van Kinh Private Collection, Hanoi city.

Binh Da lithophone collection, dating back 3000 years ago; currently kept at Dong Nai Provincial Museum.

Mukhalinga Ba The, dated 6th century; currently preserved at An Giang Provincial Museum.

Pair of stone elephant statues of Do Ban citadel, dating from the second half of the 12th century; currently preserved at the Imperial Citadel Relic Site, Nhon Hau commune, An Nhon town, Binh Dinh province.

Two celadon ceramic plates, dating from the Ly Dynasty, 11th - 12th century; currently kept at the An Bien Private Collection, Hai Phong city.

Blue-violet glazed ceramic plate; date: Early Le Dynasty, 15th century; currently kept at An Bien Private Collection, Hai Phong city.

Tran Dynasty dragon head, date: 13th century; currently preserved at the Thang Long Heritage Conservation Center - Hanoi.

Giau Pagoda Stele (Ngo Gia Thi Bi), dated: Binh Ngo year (1366), Dai Tri era 9; currently preserved at Giau Pagoda, Dinh Xa commune, Phu Ly city, Ha Nam province.

Stone stele of Tinh Lu pagoda, date: August 28, Mau Ty year (1648), Phuc Thai era 6; currently preserved at Tinh Lu pagoda, Lang Ngam commune, Gia Binh district, Bac Ninh province.

Bell of Roi Pagoda, date: Second half of the 14th century; currently preserved at Ha Tinh Provincial Museum.

Blue and white ceramic incense burner, date: Early Le Dynasty, 15th century; currently kept at An Bien Private Collection, Hai Phong city.

Statue of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara at Cung Kiem Pagoda, year: Ky Ty (1449), 7th year of Thai Hoa reign; currently worshiped at Cung Kiem Pagoda - Thuong Phuc Tu, Nhan Hoa Commune, Que Vo District, Bac Ninh Province.

Collection of royal blue and white ceramic bowls and plates from the early Le Dynasty, dating from the 15th century to the early 16th century; currently kept at the Thang Long Heritage Conservation Center - Hanoi.

Collection of weapons from Truong Giang Vo School, dating from the 15th - 18th centuries; currently kept at the Hanoi Museum.

Terracotta altar of An Xa temple, dated: Circa 16th century; currently preserved at An Xa temple, An Vien commune, Tien Lu district, Hung Yen province.

Two bronze incense burners, lids with statues of lions, dated: 16th - 17th century; currently kept at An Bien Private Collection, Hai Phong city.

The set of steps of Dien Kinh Thien, dated: 17th century; currently preserved at the Thang Long - Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center.

Cannon of the Later Le Dynasty, date: 17th century; currently preserved at the Thang Long Heritage Conservation Center - Hanoi.

The Golden Book of the coronation of the Queen Mother, year: Canh Hung 57 (1796), currently preserved at the National Museum of History.

Statue of An Duong Vuong, date: May 16, Dinh Dau year (1897); currently worshiped at Co Loa relic site, Thang Long Heritage Conservation Center - Hanoi.

Statue "Portrait of President Ho Chi Minh", year: 1946; currently kept at the National Museum of History.

T59 tank number 377, year: 1972; currently kept at the People's Committee of Dak To district, Kon Tum province.

The statues of Phap Loa (left) and Huyen Quang at Thap Pho Minh Pagoda (Nam Dinh) have just been recognized as national treasures by the Prime Minister. Along with Buddhist Emperor Tran Nhan Tong, Phap Loa and Huyen Quang were the founders of the Truc Lam Zen sect.

In the above decision, the Prime Minister assigned the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Chairmen of People's Committees at all levels where national treasures are located, Ministers, Heads of ministerial-level agencies, agencies under the Government, heads of sectors and organizations assigned to manage recognized national treasures within the scope of their tasks and powers to manage national treasures in accordance with the provisions of the law on cultural heritage.

At the same time, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Chairmen of People's Committees at all levels where national treasures are located, Ministers, Heads of ministerial-level agencies, Government agencies, heads of sectors, organizations and entities assigned to manage recognized national treasures are responsible for implementing the decision.
