The Lunar New Year holiday schedule is specified in the 2024-2025 school year schedule issued by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee. Accordingly, more than 1.7 million preschool, primary, secondary and high school students in Ho Chi Minh City will have the Lunar New Year holiday from January 25, 2025, the 26th day of the 12th lunar month, to February 2, 2025, the 5th day of the 1st lunar month.

Thus, including weekends before and after the prescribed time, students in Ho Chi Minh City have a total of 9 days off. This is the shortest Tet holiday period for students in Ho Chi Minh City ever, 7 days less than previous years.

In previous years, students in Ho Chi Minh City usually had 15-16 days off for Tet. Specifically, for the 2024 Lunar New Year, students will have a holiday from February 5, 2024, the 26th day of the 12th lunar month, to February 18, 2024, the 9th day of the 1st lunar month. The total number of days off is 16, including weekends before and after the prescribed time.

A leader of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City once shared that the reason why Tet holiday for students in Ho Chi Minh City is often long is because the city has many students from far away coming to study, so they can take the initiative to travel during Tet.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has agreed with the proposal of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs on the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday (At Ty). Accordingly, cadres, civil servants and public employees will have 9 consecutive days off, from January 25 to February 2, 2025, that is, from December 26 of the year of Giap Thin to the end of January 5 of the year of At Ty.
