According to records, two dormitories with 40 rooms for boarding school students have been damaged in many places after a long time of use.
Dormitories do not ensure students' living conditions.
Mr. Vo Thanh Nguyen, principal of Gia Lai Province Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, said that after 30 years of use, the boarding area has seriously degraded.
The drainage and sanitation systems no longer ensure living conditions for students.
Many peeling, moldy, leaking spots have appeared on the walls. In some places, moss and ferns have grown green all over the walls.
Meanwhile, some pillars have peeled off cement, exposing the steel frame.

Recently, the school was very excited to hear that a dormitory was being built on the land of the (old) Vocational College next to the school.
However, due to land procedure problems, the project is still at a standstill and cannot be implemented.
Can't do it because of lack of red book
According to Mr. Le Duy Dinh - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Gia Lai province, regarding this land, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee previously decided to hand over the land to the boarding school for use. However, because the land use right certificate has not been issued, the conditions for starting the project are not met.
"After the province decided to allocate land, the department should have made a copy to make a red book at that time, but it did not. Now, when implementing the project, it was discovered that the new land plot did not have a land use rights certificate.

The Department has promoted this work, but after 8 months, the red book has not been issued yet," said Mr. Dinh.
Meanwhile, Mr. Pham Minh Trung, Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Gia Lai province, said that as soon as the problem related to the land arose, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the Department of Finance and the provincial Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities met together in February 2024.
Up to now, the department has guided the school to complete the dossier, send the report, and extract the land. This agency is checking again one last time before submitting the land dossier to the Provincial People's Committee. According to Mr. Trung, the problem is that the Provincial People's Committee previously handed over the land to the boarding school for use but has not yet implemented the land procedures.
It is known that the project to invest in facilities and equipment for Gia Lai Province's Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities belongs to the national target program on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period 2021-2025, invested by the Department of Education and Training.
