On the afternoon of November 15, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with representatives of outstanding teachers and educational administrators nationwide to celebrate Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20.

Will report to the Central Government to supplement the education sector's staffing

Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son said that including the public and non-public sectors, there are currently 1.6 million teachers at all levels nationwide. The teaching staff is constantly innovating, being creative, and striving to fulfill their assigned tasks well. Localities and educational institutions have their own policies to attract and support teachers.

However, Mr. Son acknowledged that there are still many challenges, including creating a legal corridor to ensure the role, position, and rights of teachers in the new development stage.

Therefore, the Minister emphasized that he will report to the Central Government to supplement the education sector's staffing to overcome the shortage of teachers. He will strengthen inspection and supervision of recruitment, use of staff, and implementation of regulations on teachers' ethics in localities.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Chuyen, a teacher at Muong Toong Primary Boarding School No. 1 (Muong Nhe District, Dien Bien), said that in recent years, many schools have been built with modern teaching equipment such as computers and projectors thanks to the attention of the Party and the State.

According to Mr. Nguyen Anh Nhat - teacher at Tuy Phuoc Town Secondary School (Binh Dinh), during his 22 years working in Binh Dinh province, he has always received attention and sharing from his colleagues.

"In today's meeting, I hope all colleagues will try harder to contribute to the cause of education, not to disappoint the expectations of students, people, Party and State leaders," Mr. Nhat expressed.

Ms. Bui Thi Loan, a lecturer in the psychology department at Hung Vuong University (Phu Tho), expressed that she needs to constantly strive to improve her professional expertise, ethics, and appropriate behaviors for a lecturer who is good at professional expertise, professionalism, and innovation in scientific research.

Through that, Ms. Loan hopes to inspire the passion for scientific research in students and help them confidently develop their intelligence and courage.

Perfecting policies and caring for teachers

Sharing the confidences of the teachers, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his joy in welcoming the outstanding teachers who have made many outstanding contributions to the country's education and training.

According to the Prime Minister, through the sincere and emotional sharing of teachers about their lives and careers, it can be seen that they are educators with many outstanding achievements in the education and training career.

Teachers are the core elements spreading good values ​​to students; they are truly shining examples of morality, self-study and creativity, dedication and devotion to the cause of educating people.

Looking towards a new era, an era of national development, with the view that education continues to be the top national policy, the Prime Minister emphasized that the country's education and training must be resolutely reformed more fundamentally and comprehensively, reaching the advanced level of the Asian region by 2030 and the advanced level of the world by 2045.

The Prime Minister requested ministries, branches and localities to continue to pay attention and care for the education and training career with the motto "Taking students as the center and subject - Teachers as the driving force - School as the support - Family as the fulcrum - Society as the foundation".

Accordingly, the key tasks that need to be carried out are to care for, support and help the education sector to carry out strategic tasks with quality, including perfecting the Law on Teachers. Mobilize and effectively use resources to invest in facilities for schools and education.

Improve the quality of teachers and staff working in education and training, perfect the recruitment and remuneration policies so that teachers can enjoy salaries commensurate with their efforts, especially preschool teachers, those working in remote, disadvantaged areas, teachers teaching arduous and hazardous professions, and overcome the local shortage of teachers...

Accordingly, the Prime Minister requested that the educational sector's institutions be perfected to suit the country's situation and be feasible. There should be a mechanism to mobilize resources to improve the quality of educational institutions accordingly, so that the teaching staff will be increasingly qualified, comprehensive, and more passionate about their profession, ensuring suitability and adaptation to the international integration situation.
