According to the announcement from the Henley Passport Index, Vietnam ranks 90th globally.
In the ranking published in January, the Vietnamese passport ranked 87th, with visa exemption to 55 destinations.
With a ranking of 90, Vietnamese citizens can enter 51 destinations without a visa or just need to apply for an e-visa, border visa, ETA (electronic travel permit), including Cambodia, Laos, Brunei, Burundi, Chile, Cook Islands, Dominica, Bolivia, Guinea Bissau, Madagascar, Kyrgyzstan...
In Southeast Asia, Vietnamese passports rank above Laos (92nd) and Myanmar (93rd).
Singapore continues to be the country with the most powerful passport in the world as well as in the region, as its citizens are visa-free to 195/199 countries and territories.
The five countries with passports at the bottom of the ranking are Afghanistan (visa-free access to 26 destinations), Syria (27 destinations), Iraq (31 destinations), Yemen and Pakistan (33 destinations).
Henley & Partners' rankings draw data from the International Air Transport Association, a large, accurate database of travel information published two to three times a year.
Henley Passport Index has been ranking passports of countries and territories since 2006.
