The British media unanimously reported that coach Erik ten Hag made another "revolution" at Old Trafford, something that both his predecessors, coach Mourinho and coach Louis van Gaal, had hoped for but were unable to do. But now, it has happened, with the determination of the former Ajax captain.
Specifically, at the request of coach Erik ten Hag, MU leaders finally accepted.
That is to turn the high-class service room for sponsors and VIP guests at Old Trafford into a private space for MU players to relax, eat and rest before home matches.
This means that coach Erik ten Hag and his team will hold pre-match team meetings right at the Theatre of Dreams, completely eliminating the need to travel to the Lowry Hotel every evening before a match at Old Trafford.
This has made the players extremely excited, because this means they can sleep at home with their families the night before the match, instead of having to rush to the Lowry like before. The MU stars can also comfortably drive from home to Old Trafford.
Previously, both coach Mourinho and coach Louis van Gaal had proposed and pointed out the inconvenience of MU having to "station troops" at Lowry (even though it is a luxurious 5-star place).
Traffic in Manchester is erratic, MU once had to suffer from a miserable traffic jam when traveling to their home stadium. In 2018, Coach Mourinho was so frustrated that he got off the bus and walked…
Van Gaal criticized MU as a commercial club, coach Mourinho also had similar doubts. But coach Erik ten Hag chose a different solution: action.
Like on the US tour, he also proactively reduced the number of commercial events the players had to participate in from 3 days to 2 days so that his students could have time to rest.
He also "fought" to have a separate space for MU players to eat, rest and prepare for the match at Old Trafford, instead of wasting time traveling from Lowry back.
Chief executive Richard Arnold is the man who has been instrumental in turning Erik ten Hag's demands into reality. The manager is excited about the next change at Old Trafford.
"Indulging" coach Ten Hag's request will cost MU millions of dollars because the row of VIP service rooms will be converted into a place for the first team.
But they have sought to recoup revenue elsewhere, with new reception spaces in previously unused areas.
MU leaders believe these changes are necessary, as part of coach Erik ten Hag's efforts to raise standards and bring success.
MU will start the new campaign by hosting Wolves at 2am on August 15, round 1 of the Premier League 2023/24.
