The above information was shared by Mr. Tuong Nguyen Su, Principal of Ngo Thoi Nhiem Primary-Middle-High School - a non-public school in Ho Chi Minh City - at a meeting to provide comments on the draft Law on Teachers organized by the Ministry of Education and Training in Ho Chi Minh City on November 29.
Mr. Su said the average salary of the whole school is currently 27.3 million VND/month, the lowest is 6.1 million VND/month, the highest is 137.8 million VND/month.
The average salary of teachers is 30.7 million VND/month, the highest is 60.7 million VND and the lowest is 14 million VND/month.
The lowest employee salary ranges from 6.1 million VND to the highest is 42 million VND/month, the average is 15 million VND.
The lowest salary used as the basis for social insurance contributions for teachers is nearly 9 million VND/month and the highest is more than 11.4 million VND/month.
Mr. Su said that the school's salary policy is based on ability, achievements, dedication and seniority at the school.
Salaries are adjusted annually at the beginning of the school year along with many other policies such as bonuses for holidays, Tet, and high achievements, along with many benefits such as teachers having lunch at school; teachers' children having reduced or exempted tuition fees when they study at school; annual travel and vacation regimes...
In addition, the school builds and distributes apartments and townhouses at cost price, without interest, to employees and teachers in need.
Mr. Su said that according to the draft Law on Teachers, teachers of non-public schools will be recognized as teachers, with equal status and role as public teachers. Thanks to that, the status of non-public teachers will also be raised.
Mr. Tuong Nguyen Su also expressed the need to continue reviewing and clarifying the contents on rights and obligations, teachers' ethics; salary policy; ranking exams or recruitment for non-public teachers.
Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong emphasized that the policy of building the Law on Teachers with a consistent and clear spirit is to promulgate the law to develop the teaching staff with the spirit of shifting from previous administrative management to quality management. Thereby, how to attract many capable, talented, and dedicated people to the teaching profession and stick with the profession.
Today's feedback session aims to listen to the opinions of teachers who are representatives of non-public educational institutions in order to remove some bottlenecks in previous legal documents on teachers that have not covered the system of teachers in non-public institutions.
