Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Lam Nguyen Hai Long, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Information Technology Association, said that Hau Giang province was chosen to host the event as an opportunity for students in the Western region to learn more about the contributions of astronauts to science.

"Astronauts are people who are willing to endure great losses, even their lives, to carry out the noble purpose of science," said Mr. Long, adding that they are shining examples, motivations, and inspirations representing human intelligence in discovering new achievements as well as answering questions that many generations of humans have not been able to answer about the universe.

At the event, former NASA astronaut Michael A. Baker and NASA flight surgeon Dr. Josef Schmid shared about the rocket launch process and the activities and scientific research on the spacecraft.

Former astronaut Michael A. Baker said the rocket is placed on the launch pad and this process will take place at night; the fuel source used is liquefied gas placed in two large tanks that are responsible for pushing the rocket up. Before the rocket is launched, everything must be checked for safety, including the temperature to ensure the safety of the crew members.

"During launch, the rocket's speed can reach 50,000 miles per hour, which must overcome the Earth's gravity. In the first two minutes of the rocket's launch, if there is an accident, the crew members will be ejected by parachute," said the former astronaut, adding that within 7 minutes of flight, that is, overcoming the Earth's gravity, the flight will be completed.

According to him, the rocket launch process will create a very loud sound; when completed, the gas fuel tanks will be automatically separated...

Chairman of Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee Dong Van Thanh said that the activities within the framework of the event were connected online with bridges in all provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region, giving young people the opportunity to approach astronauts to learn, explore, share and explore science. Thereby, opening up career opportunities for young people in the field of space and astrophysics, which Vietnam considers a key field in the 21st century.

Mr. Thanh suggested that NASA support localities in equipping STEM/STEAME Robotics educational innovation experience practice centers and organizing scientific research in high schools. At the same time, equip one or several smart classrooms; build a teacher training system combining direct and online methods of STEM education to develop students' qualities and abilities.

Tran Vu Hai Duy, a 12th grader at Vi Thanh High School for the Gifted in Hau Giang Province, said that participating in the event gave him the opportunity to experience and expand his knowledge of the universe. Listening to the real stories about the experiences, lives, and work of the astronauts, "we understand and admire a lot about the sacrifices and great, silent contributions of you guys to humanity...", Hai said.
