Located at Holiday Beach Hotel Danang, the pedestrian tunnel called Holiday Beach Subway was inaugurated and put into use since the end of April 2016, invested in and built by Hoa Ky Joint Stock Company and Holiday Beach Hotel according to the socialization policy of the City People's Committee.
This first pedestrian tunnel system leading to the sea is designed with a total floor area of over 500m2, including 2 open tunnels 20m long, closed tunnel nearly 30m long, 7m wide.
At first, in addition to being used as a pedestrian tunnel, Holiday Beach Subway was also an entertainment space for residents and tourists with an area of about 300m2, including items such as: children's play area, bookshelves for tourists, mini 4D cinema, souvenir stalls, pottery and clay art classes, etc.
When put into use, the Holiday Beach Subway is considered a project that creates a safe path for residents and tourists, and also creates a unique tourism product, contributing to improving the quality of Da Nang's beach services.
However, according to the reporter's recent records, the Holiday Beach Subway pedestrian tunnel project is almost abandoned. This pedestrian tunnel system has now closed some of the previous entertainment, shopping and recreation items; only the open tunnel is put into use, serving as a passageway to the sea for residents and tourists.

The space inside the pedestrian tunnel is now dark, dusty, rarely cleaned of garbage, souvenir stalls with locked doors, causing a creepy feeling for pedestrians. Therefore, instead of using the pedestrian tunnel to move safely to the sea, most residents and tourists choose to cross the street, forgetting the underground space below.
Today, although this pedestrian tunnel has been cleared of trash and weeds, few people still choose to walk through the tunnel to the sea, even when the road surface is extremely hot.
It is known that during and after the Covid-19 pandemic, many hotels, restaurants and entertainment services on the route where the Holiday Beach Subway is located had to close and stop operating for a long time.
According to the Da Nang City Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, the orientation for underground space development in the central area is to build an underground space system at public works, services, high-rise buildings, key traffic intersections, station areas, urban railway lines, connecting with parking lots and underground traffic tunnels to create a complete, multi-functional underground space.
In addition, the Vo Nguyen Giap coastal route is an area with dense traffic, a large number of people and tourists passing by on the way to the sea, posing many potential traffic safety risks.
Therefore, underground tunnels such as the Holiday Beach Subway are both necessary to ensure the safety of residents and tourists swimming in the sea, and effective underground spaces for sustainable urban development. Therefore, localities also need to have a plan to exploit and manage these potential underground tunnels more effectively.
