There are some absentees in this gathering such as Huynh Nhu (busy negotiating a contract with Lank FC), Thuy Trang, Thuy Nga... but instead the team welcomes many young players in the rejuvenation plan of the Vietnamese women's team.
Sharing before the training session, center back Chuong Thi Kieu said: “When the team returned, the atmosphere in the team was very happy even though there were many young players. I have been playing for a long time so I really want the young players to be called up to the national team to gain experience and focus more with their seniors to look towards the future of women's football.”
“We have accumulated a lot of experience from the Women's World Cup Finals to prepare for the ASIAD. Training and playing friendly matches as well as playing at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup Finals with world-class teams has helped us learn a lot. Coach Mai Duc Chung also advised us to improve whatever we lack. He encouraged us not to be sad because we didn't score or get points, but to use that as motivation to try harder and think about the future,” added Chuong Thi Kieu.
To help the players quickly regain their training condition after more than a week of rest, today, the coaching staff gave the whole team supplementary exercises to improve their physical strength and power. Although the weather in Hanoi today was rainy, the players still actively completed their exercises.
Talking about the upcoming opponent at ASIAD 19, Chuong Thi Kieu said: “The Japanese team plays with great determination and teamwork. When the front line is surpassed, the back line always supports us, very tight. Before, when playing against Japanese teams, they were very skillful, causing many difficulties for us. However, the Vietnamese women's team has long not cared about whether the team is strong or weak, once on the field, they play with all their might, not only for the team but also for the fans.”
This morning, coach Mai Duc Chung also had a meeting with his colleagues to discuss the best professional content for the Vietnamese women's team in the upcoming tournament. The team's executive committee has also been completed. During Huynh Nhu's absence, striker Pham Hai Yen will take on the role of captain along with two vice-captains, goalkeeper Tran Thi Kim Thanh and center-back Chuong Thi Kieu.
