On September 17, according to information from Quang Ngai General Hospital, the hospital's Intensive Care and Anti-Poison Department is treating two patients suspected of poisoning from eating puffer fish. These two patients are a married couple from Pho Thanh Ward, Duc Pho Town (Quang Ngai).
The husband is being treated at the Intensive Care and Anti-Poison Department, Quang Ngai General Hospital.
On the afternoon of September 16, the couple ate puffer fish. About an hour later, both of them experienced symptoms such as dizziness, numbness of the tongue, and then numbness of the whole body.
Immediately afterwards, the couple was taken to the Quang Ngai General Hospital by relatives for emergency treatment. The husband was admitted in a state of cardiac arrest and was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit, Anti-Poisoning Department in a deep coma, and had to be put on a ventilator due to respiratory arrest. The wife had milder symptoms and was treated according to the food poisoning protocol.
Health check for wife
By the morning of September 17, the husband's health had improved. The patient was awake and breathing on his own. However, due to his poor health and underlying lung disease, the patient continued to receive intensive treatment. The wife's health is now stable.
Previously, on May 2, a family of 12 people in Ly Son island district (Quang Ngai) had dinner together, including puffer fish. A few hours later, 5 people had stomachaches, vomiting, diarrhea... After a night, their health condition was not good, so their families took them to the hospital in Ly Son. By the afternoon of May 3, all 5 people were taken to Quang Ngai General Hospital and Quang Ngai Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital for treatment.
