Authorities in Hanoi discovered over 10 tons of frozen animal organs of unknown origin. Many products had changed color and emitted a foul odor. This shipment was imported to serve the 2025 Lunar New Year.
During a surprise inspection of a warehouse at Lot 11 of Quang Minh Industrial Park, Quang Minh Town, Me Linh District, Hanoi on January 8, Market Management Team No. 17 (Hanoi Market Management Department) in coordination with the Economic Police Department - Hanoi City Police discovered a large quantity of frozen food in intact carton boxes.
Through actual inspection, authorities discovered nearly 10 tons of goods including beef tripe, beef stomach, and pork stomach without labels, and the packaging did not show product information, production date, or expiration date.
Of these, the largest amount is cow tripe, with about 8 tons. The rest is cow and pig stomach.
All the goods in this warehouse are frozen products. Many products have shown signs of decomposition, discoloration and foul odor.
The owner of the facility is Mr. HVD (residing in Bac Kan province). Working with the inspection team, Mr. D. could not present invoices and documents proving the legality of the goods. The shipment is worth nearly 550 million VND.
According to a representative of Market Management Team No. 17, the goods at this facility were collected from many different sources, then used refrigerated trucks to move at night to avoid inspection by authorities. More sophisticatedly, the subjects also continuously changed the license plate numbers as well as the means of transport to conceal the shipment.
All of these goods are imported to serve the increased demand during the 2025 Lunar New Year. Not only distributed in the Hanoi market, the above items are also infiltrated into consumption at many stores and restaurants across the country.
Also on January 8, another working group of Market Management Team No. 17 coordinated with the Economic Police Department - Hanoi Police to inspect a frozen food business establishment at Lane 21 Tuu Liet, Thanh Tri District.
At the time of inspection, the working group discovered more than 2.1 tons of frozen food including pig brain, egg intestine, pig intestine, chicken gizzard,... of unknown origin and not yet quality tested.
The owner of this facility is Ms. PTH (born in 1992). Ms. H. could not present a business registration certificate or invoices for the above goods.
Ms. H. confessed to purchasing goods on the market and reselling them to customers in need in Hanoi and some neighboring provinces. The inspection team made a record and temporarily detained all the goods for handling according to the law.
