Hanoi stimulates consumption with concentrated promotion program

The Hanoi city-focused promotion program is a practical solution to stimulate consumer demand, support businesses in developing production and business, and contribute to completing Hanoi's GRDP growth target.
The program also effectively implements the Campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" and programs related to e-commerce and branded, reputable products in the market.

Supporting businesses to increase competitiveness According to the November 2024 plan, the Hanoi City Concentrated Promotion Program will continue to take place, after the concentrated promotion events in May and July 2024. Notably, in the series of promotional activities in November, there are many of the biggest promotional programs of the year and they have become "specialties" of Hanoi City. These are events within the framework of the program such as "Consumer Goods and Agricultural Products Promotion Festival"; "Fashion and Beauty Promotion Festival"; "Electronics and Technology Promotion Festival"; "Cashless Event" and especially "Hanoi Sleepless Night" ..., which are always welcomed by consumers. According to the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, in the context of many economic difficulties, manufacturing and distribution enterprises have implemented a series of promotional programs to stimulate consumption. Hanoi's concentrated promotional programs have gathered and spread the meaning of promotional activities more deeply and widely to businesses and consumers, thereby positively impacting the economy. The concentrated promotional program has been organized by Hanoi for many years and each year the number of participating businesses has increased. The forms of promotion are increasingly diverse and strongly promote the promotion and consumption of Vietnamese goods. In 2023, the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade received more than 12,000 promotional registration notices from businesses, with an estimated total value of more than 25,000 billion VND. Ms. Nguyen Minh Phuong (residing at B11A Nam Trung Yen apartment building, Cau Giay district) commented: "With difficult economic conditions, large promotional programs throughout the year are especially meaningful. Many promotional programs with deep discounts and abundant and diverse sources of goods... have supported and shared the spending burden with consumers". Deputy Director in charge of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Kieu Oanh commented that promotional activities not only contribute to ensuring the balance of supply and demand, helping consumers buy goods at reasonable prices, but are also a solution to promote consumption, thereby affirming that the domestic market is one of the driving forces of economic growth. Through concentrated promotional activities, businesses trade, link production, increase competitiveness, and at the same time have a greater sense of responsibility towards consumers and the domestic market. Expectations for the domestic market In 2025, the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade sets a target of total retail sales of goods and service revenue increasing by about 10-11%... To achieve the above goal, stimulating domestic consumption continues to be one of the important solutions. Recently, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen signed and issued Plan No. 299/KH-UBND on organizing the Hanoi City Concentrated Promotion Program in 2025. The program will continue to take place in May, July and November, with the main contents including fairs, promotional festivals, "Promotion Month"; "Hanoi sleepless nights"; Brand Promotion event... The program is expected to attract 1,000 - 2,000 enterprises, production and business units of all economic sectors across the country, including shopping centers, supermarkets, electronics supermarkets, markets, convenience stores, specialized stores, banking systems... The main goal of the program is to stimulate domestic demand, increase total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue, promote product consumption, and at the same time contribute to completing the GRDP growth target of Hanoi in 2025. Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade said that according to the plan, the Department is assigned to preside over the approval of the list of enterprises participating in the promotion; the program, promotion rate, and discounts of enterprises; Coordinate with the Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion of the city to organize Hanoi Promotion Month 2025. The Hanoi Market Management Department and related departments and branches will inspect and supervise activities taking place in the program, fight against smuggling, trading in counterfeit and poor quality goods, and strictly handle violations... Localities are responsible for ensuring security and order, arranging space, and organizing centralized vehicle parking in the area where the events take place. Information and dissemination of the program to each ward, commune, and town, paying attention to using the form of propaganda through the radio system to residential areas... "The City People's Committee requires that the implementation of the Concentrated Promotion Program must be practical, effective, and meet the required purposes; strengthen the role of agencies and units in supporting businesses, stabilizing prices, stabilizing the market, controlling inflation, ensuring social security, and implementing the Government's socio-economic development goals in 2025 and the following years," the plan clearly states. The Hanoi City Concentrated Promotion Program 2025 with a series of diverse activities, promotional events that are innovated, improved in quality, suitable to the actual situation, along with trade promotion programs associated with promoting the building of Vietnamese product brands, is expected to contribute to promoting production and business, and economic growth in the capital. From the perspective of a distribution business, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Dung - Director of Co.opmart Hanoi supermarket (Ha Dong district) said that in order to prepare for participating in the Hanoi City Concentrated Promotion Program, the unit has worked in advance with suppliers to get the best prices and sources of goods.
