The establishment of mass cultural and artistic clubs in mountainous districts not only contributes to preserving and promoting traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities, but also enriches the cultural life of the grassroots. Therefore, in recent times, localities in the mountainous areas of Thanh Hoa have implemented many solutions to make cultural and artistic clubs operate effectively.
Members of the Muong ethnic folk culture club, Ngoc Lac district are practicing.
In the last days of the year at the Van Dinh village cultural house, Thanh My commune (Thach Thanh), the sound of gongs, cymbals, and singing of members of the Van Dinh village folk culture club is becoming more vibrant and bustling. Club leader Truong Van Long said: The club was established in 2023, and has so far attracted 30 members, mainly those who are talented, passionate, and dedicated to the traditional cultural identity of the Muong ethnic group. Since its establishment, the club has actively practiced, researched, collected, and performed Muong folk songs, played gongs, and become a force to "keep the fire burning" for the movement in the locality. Many members also actively spread the beauty of Muong culture through meaningful poetry collections and articles. In addition, when the village or commune has important events, the club participates in performing for the people. The club also actively organizes activities, teaches students and people dances, songs, gong performances..., contributing to preserving and promoting the cultural values of the Muong ethnic group.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Danh, a civil servant of the commune's Culture and Society, said: Thanh My has implemented many solutions to preserve the cultural values of the Muong people, including establishing cultural and artistic clubs to serve local activities and pass on folk songs to the younger generation. Currently, the whole commune has established two folk cultural clubs that operate quite effectively. In order for the clubs to increasingly improve the quality of their activities, the commune has also paid attention to creating conditions and organizing many exchange programs, activities, and competitions to attract clubs and art troupes to participate. The formation and development of cultural and artistic clubs is of great significance in preserving and developing the traditional cultural values of the locality and contributing to improving the spiritual life of the people.
The Muong Folklore Club in Ngoc Lac District was established in 2008 and has become a model for preserving and promoting traditional cultural values in the district. Club President Truong Thi Phi said: Although it is not a professional club and has not been properly trained, the members of the club are eager to learn and actively participate in practicing and performing folk songs and gongs of the Muong ethnic group at important events, festivals and at tourist areas and spots in the district to serve visitors. The club also regularly opens classes to teach Muong folklore to students at schools and people in the district.
To facilitate the operation of the Club, Ngoc Lac District has organized many cultural exchange activities, coordinated with relevant departments to open many intangible cultural training courses to attract Club members to participate. From there, a core team of active cultural artists with basic skills has been built, which is the "locomotive" to lead and develop the cultural and artistic movement at the grassroots level and contribute to the preservation of traditional cultural values of the locality.
In the mountainous districts of Thanh Hoa, there are currently many effective cultural and artistic clubs, contributing positively to the preservation and promotion of local cultural values. In order for the clubs to increasingly improve the quality of their activities, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has opened many training courses to attract artisans, people who understand traditional cultural values, and members currently active in clubs in mountainous districts to participate.
Along with that, in 2024, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and localities actively organized many festivals, competitions, and art performances to attract cultural and artistic clubs in mountainous areas to participate in performances. At the same time, there are mechanisms to encourage and create conditions for artisans working in clubs to participate in teaching traditional cultural values to young people. Actively link the cultural and artistic movement with local tourism development. From there, not only promote but also contribute to preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of localities in mountainous areas.
