Teachers 'forced' to visit students in Ha Giang province on expensive tour

On April 18, the People's Committee of Lam Dong province requested the Department of Education and Training to inspect and clarify information reported by teachers about being charged high prices in the form of tourism when visiting students in Ha Giang.

Previously, in 2023, Ha Giang province lacked English teachers. The local education sector asked Lam Dong for support. Many teachers in Lam Dong organized free English lessons for students in Meo Vac and Bac Me districts (Ha Giang) online.

Therefore, the Department of Education and Training of Lam Dong province intends to organize a meeting for teachers and students. Recently, the Lam Dong education sector planned to organize a visit for teachers to students in Ha Giang, expected time from April 27 to May 1.

Many teachers signed up to participate. However, the trip was organized by the Department of Education and Training as a tour and individuals had to pay for it themselves, not to mention the additional cost of round-trip airfare.

Many teachers then checked and found out that the trip was charged at a high price through a travel agency selected by the Department of Education and Training. This price was much higher than the price of a tour at the same location and time. The teachers said that they had to pay a high price to visit students and that it was not transparent, so they reacted.

Therefore, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee requires relevant units to resolve the issue thoroughly, publicly, transparently, objectively and in accordance with regulations, not to create bad public opinion in society.
