On the morning of March 8, the Ho Chi Minh City International Film Festival (HIFF) announced its first jury in the international category.
That is Mr. Olivier Père (born 1971 in Marseille, France) - a curator, film critic and art director in the film industry.
He will be a judge in the Southeast Asian Film Category and a special guest at the HIFF Film Project Workshop & Market.
Ho Chi Minh City International Film Festival invites international jury
Mr. Olivier Père was the artistic director of the Directors' Fortnight program, Cannes Film Festival from 2004 - 2009.
He began his career as a curator at the Cinémathèque française - Cinema Museum in Paris (1995 - 2009).
From 1997 to 2012, he became a film critic and worked for the magazine Les Inrockuptibles, among other publications.

He served as artistic director of Directors' Fortnight, Cannes Film Festival from 2004 to 2009. In 2009, he became artistic director of the Locarno Film Festival (Switzerland).
A year later, he co-wrote a book about Jacques Demy with Marie Colmant, and co-wrote Take 100 - The Future of film: 100 New Directors .
In 2012, he was appointed CEO of Arte France Cinéma and director of film acquisitions for ARTE France.
It is expected that the Ho Chi Minh City International Film Festival will have many prestigious domestic and foreign judges and filmmakers participating in the selection and judging of the categories.
This is not only a guarantee of the quality of the competing films but also an opportunity for international judges and filmmakers to come to Ho Chi Minh City to explore Vietnamese, regional and Asian cinematographic works.
The HIFF Organizing Committee said: "The participation of one of the leading experts in the field of cinema like Olivier Père is a great honor for the Ho Chi Minh City International Film Festival.
"We believe that, with his experience and stature in the film industry, Mr. Olivier Père will create many important connections, bringing Vietnamese cinema closer to the world."
