On the morning of March 19, the temperature in the center of Ban Cong commune was around 17 degrees, but frost appeared on the top of Ta Xua.

Talking to Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Dao Viet Nghiem - Chairman of Ban Cong Commune - said that early this morning, local guides taking tourists trekking to Ta Xua informed that the temperature on the top of Ta Xua had dropped to about 3 degrees Celsius. Frost covered the branches and blades of grass on the top of the mountain.

Every year, Ta Xua still has frost, mainly in winter, December and January.

Taking tourists trekking on the top of Ta Xua, Mr. Phang Ga - a local porter - said that this was the first time since he was born that he saw ice on Ta Xua in March.

Last night, the temperature on the top of Ta Xua started to drop gradually. By 12 midnight, it was very cold. Even wearing 4-5 layers of clothing, I still felt cold.

From 1am, the ice started to appear and gradually thickened. The ice was thickest around 6am. The ice has now melted a bit.

The North is currently under the influence of an intensifying cold front. According to information from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, temperatures in the North dropped this morning.

The lowest temperature in Sa Pa (Lao Cai), Pha Din (Dien Bien) is 5 degrees; Sin Ho (Lai Chau), Dong Van (Ha Giang) is 6 degrees; Mu Cang Chai (Yen Bai) is nearly 10 degrees Celsius; Hanoi is 16 degrees Celsius.

The last time frost appeared in Ta Xua (Yen Bai) was during the cold spell on January 11.
