Today's iron and steel prices recorded many fluctuations. On the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE), rebar for November 2025 delivery increased by 8 yuan to 3,308 yuan/ton. Iron ore futures also increased slightly, with the May contract on the Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE) increasing by 0.71% to 776.5 yuan/ton ($106.91/ton), while the benchmark iron ore price for April on the Singapore Exchange decreased by 0.82% to $101.45/ton.
Average iron ore concentrate output was 488,500 tonnes per day, up 0.4% from the previous week, driven by rising steelmaking demand, according to data from Mysteel. However, some steelmakers in Xinjiang have begun to cut production, with Xinjiang Ba Yi Iron and Steel Co. planning to cut its daily crude steel output by 10%.
Although Chinese stocks closed higher, market sentiment remained cautious amid concerns about auto tariffs from U.S. President Donald Trump. Other steelmaking components such as metallurgical coal and coking coal posted small gains, up 0.25% and 0.8%, respectively.
