On July 17, in Hanoi, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan chaired a national online conference to review 3 years of implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Development for the 2021-2025 period.
Information at the conference said that the whole country currently has 6,022/8,177 communes (73.65%) meeting new rural standards (an increase of 11.3% compared to the end of 2020); 19 provinces and centrally run cities have 100% of communes meeting new rural standards (an increase of 7 localities compared to the end of 2020). Of which, 5 provinces (Nam Dinh, Dong Nai, Ha Nam, Hung Yen and Hai Duong) have been recognized by the Prime Minister for completing the task of building new rural areas.
Speaking at the conference, Minister Le Minh Hoan stated that the National Target Program on New Rural Development is not only about building bridges, roads, schools, and stations, but should be a multi-purpose program to build new rural areas more effectively and practically, improving the material and spiritual life of rural people. In particular, the One Commune One Product (OCOP) Program associated with new rural areas not only needs to ensure quality but also includes stories and values that carry the cultural identity of each locality and region, so that OCOP products can spread and attract consumers in the market.
