Linking the building of the Militia and Self-Defense Forces with the building of a comprehensively strong base

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Trung Chinh affirmed that, through revolutionary periods, along with the growth and maturity of the Militia and Self-Defense Force nationwide, the Militia and Self-Defense Force of Da Nang City has developed rapidly in all aspects.

The Militia and Self-Defense Force supported the people of the city to rise up and seize power, actively coordinating with the main force and local troops to fight (Typically, the Con Bong raid by the Hoa Hai Guerrillas on November 14, 1966; the raid on the Dong Giang District Police Station - District 3 on the night of May 5, 1968; the improved mine attack by the District 1 Secret Self-Defense Force to destroy the Hue Intersection Joint Guard Station on February 16, 1970; the timed mine attack by the Da Nang Self-Defense Force to destroy the Da Nang airport bomb and ammunition depot on the morning of November 29, 1974). Through fierce battles, many Militia and Self-Defense Force soldiers heroically sacrificed themselves, such as: People's Armed Forces Hero Nguyen Huu Duc, Ha Van Tri, Dang Dinh Van, Le Thi Danh (Nhu's Mother)...

"The Militia and Self-Defense Force has made great contributions in the resistance wars against the French and the Americans, with outstanding achievements, contributing to the defeat of major enemy campaigns. This is the core force that sticks to the land to protect the villages, works with the people to build fighting villages, digs secret tunnels to hide and protect revolutionary cadres. This force coordinated with the main units and the city's armed forces in the Da Nang Liberation Campaign, and at the same time contributed with the army and people of the whole country to create the historic Great Victory of Spring 1975", emphasized Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Trung Chinh.

The City People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in building the Militia and Self-Defense Force.

Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Trung Chinh said that in recent years, the city's Militia and Self-Defense Force has been built according to the motto "Strong, widespread" with reasonable numbers and increasingly improved quality, always being improved in terms of organization and staffing, linking the building of the Militia and Self-Defense Force with the building of a comprehensively strong base.

To date, the city has 196 militia bases, with a force of over 13,000 (1.15% of the population). Of which, there are over 9,300 militia in wards and communes, and over 4,200 self-defense forces. Political quality has been increasingly improved with the party membership rate reaching 25.58%.

On this occasion, the City People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in building the Militia and Self-Defense Force.
