Producer Hoang Quan revealed that every day on set, actress Lam Thanh My uses a makeup mask worth about 2,000 USD. The total number of masks she used during filming was 19, equivalent to 38,000 USD.
The above information was shared at a media meeting after the premiere of the movie Cam in Ho Chi Minh City.
Revealing more about Lam Thanh My's makeup process for the role of Cam, producer Hoang Quan added that the mask can only be used once. Every day on set, the actress is given a new mask by the makeup crew, which takes about 2 hours.
"To make this mask, we had to take a sample of My's face, then mold the details to make it as realistic as possible. Before filming, we would stick those details on the face and paint and apply makeup to match the skin color to get the right character," producer Hoang Quan revealed.
Director Tran Huu Tan also explained why he spent so much on Lam Thanh My's makeup. The reason is that keeping the mask on for more than a day could impair the actress's vision, while the crew always puts safety first.
Previously, Lam Thanh My shared that she did not feel too uncomfortable when having to use this mask during filming. However, because this mask covered one eye, during the whole day of makeup, she felt a gritty feeling in her eye.
At the media meeting, the main cast of the film also had the opportunity to open up about the process of making the film.
Taking on the role of the stepmother in the film, actress Thuy Diem said that although actress Ngo Thanh Van had previously played this role very successfully, she did not feel too much pressure. She was confident that her character had new and different points.
When asked about the fact that her role in the film was not long, she shared: "For me, this is a very special role. The film is 122 minutes long and must be divided equally among all the characters, so the length of my role may have to be reduced a bit. It is difficult for the director to tell too much detail about the role, because if he did, it would not guarantee the length. In my opinion, with the director's intention like that, I think my character is quite complete."
Meanwhile, actress Rima Thanh Vy - who plays Tam - said that she is not very confident about her appearance, so she hesitated and thought for a long time before filming an important scene in the film. For this role, to ensure perfection, the crew dubbed the character's voice.
Cam is a bloody horror version inspired by the famous fairy tale Tam Cam. The main content of the film revolves around Cam - Tam's half-sister, and will have many creative characters and details, evoking a feeling of both strangeness and familiarity for the audience.
