Spring trip to Thanh Hoa, experience the old Tet in Dong Son ancient village

At the beginning of the new year, visitors to Dong Son ancient village (Ham Rong, Thanh Hoa) not only participate in many fun activities but also have the opportunity to learn about local culture and landscapes during Tet.

Only 3km from Thanh Hoa city center is Dong Son ancient village, associated with the famous Dong Son culture. Through the ups and downs of history, the destruction of war and time, Dong Son ancient village still basically preserves the cultural values ​​typical of the North Central countryside.

Dong Son ancient village is located among majestic mountains and hills, facing the Ma River with the heroic Ham Rong Bridge. Behind the village is Canh Tien mountain and in front are fertile rice fields. The village still preserves some ancient houses, ancient alleys such as Nhan, Nghia, Tri, Dung alleys and the main road.

The Old Village Tet is an annual program with many activities such as village fairs, art performances, puppetry, cockfighting... to promote and attract tourists to visit and enjoy Tet in the village. The Old Village Tet in the year of Giap Thin 2024 takes place from February 4 to February 14.

The Tet Giap Thin has favorable weather and many attractive tourist activities in Dong Son ancient village, attracting tourists and people from neighboring areas to come and have fun.

In the village grounds, in addition to the ancient village Tet program, visitors can visit Dong Son Co Tu (also known as Pham Thong Pagoda, Dong Son Pagoda). The pagoda was formerly built on an area of ​​nearly 3,000 square meters, including the Tam Quan Gate, the Main Hall; the Back Palace, but was destroyed by American bombs. Currently, the pagoda still preserves a stone statue of Amitabha Buddha sitting on a square kneeling stone pedestal.

The pagoda has rebuilt the Tam Bao house, the old pagoda behind the Tam Bao building is still intact. Dong Son Co Tu has been ranked as a provincial relic.

In addition to going to the pagoda to pray for luck and enjoying the festival in the ancient village of Tet, when coming to Dong Son ancient village, visitors can also visit and check-in at Tien Son Cave tourist area. Right from the gate of the tourist area, visitors can comfortably check-in with the flower gardens and bonsai, immersing themselves in the atmosphere of brilliant spring flowers.

Going deeper inside is the Tien Son Cave area with its amazing beauty that only those who take the effort to climb up and step inside can admire.

Tien Son Cave is about 2km long, divided into 3 main caves, the ceiling of the cave is up to tens of meters high, connected by small up and down paths. Visitors can wander around and feel the magical, strange feeling when going from one cave to another in the cool, pleasant air with the image of strangely shaped rocks.
