According to the report of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism on January 2, during the New Year holiday, it is estimated that the whole country welcomed 3.2 million visitors, the occupancy rate of accommodation rooms reached 50%, many "hot" destinations had room occupancy rates of up to 95%. Destinations that attracted many tourists during the past three days of the holiday include: Ho Chi Minh City (1.65 million visitors), Khanh Hoa (over 465,000 visitors), Hanoi (402,000 visitors), Ninh Binh (300,000 visitors)... Ha Giang and Lao Cai served an outstanding number of visitors, with room occupancy rates reaching over 90%, many places reaching 100%. Ho Chi Minh City is a bright destination during this year's holiday with 1.65 million visitors, total revenue from tourism activities estimated at 6,400 billion VND. The average room occupancy rate is estimated at 87%. During this holiday, Vietnamese people also choose countries and territories such as China, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, etc. as destinations for themselves and their families.

In particular, day tours through border gates and border areas are popular choices. Popular Southeast Asian routes such as Thailand, Singapore - Malaysia... have an advantage in price and are chosen by Vietnamese tourists. International visitors to Vietnam during the New Year holiday are mainly from Korea, China, Japan, the US, Australia, Europe, and Thailand. Of which, Hanoi welcomed the highest number of international visitors with 72,000 arrivals, followed by Ho Chi Minh City with more than 46,000 arrivals... Vietnamese tourism received positive signals from high-end international visitors, Quang Ninh welcomed two super yachts with 3,700 guests from December 31, 2023 to January 1, 2024. During the holiday, the whole country recorded almost no "rip-offs". The number of international tourists continued to record positive results. This is a positive signal for the industry's expectation of welcoming 17-18 million international visitors in 2024. The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism said that this year, tourists tend to tighten their spending, with low purchasing power. The number of domestic visitors staying at hotels has decreased because a portion of Vietnamese visitors choose to travel abroad.
