In late March, a leading global booking app in the Netherlands revealed the sleep-related trends of travelers in the Asia-Pacific region. In Vietnam, the figure reached 67% of people wanting to enjoy good, uninterrupted sleep while traveling.

Choosing the trend of experiential travel, discovery travel, healing travel or simply traveling… just to sleep depends on each person's preferences, and can also depend on each person's time.

But at this point, I'm definitely in the 67%, prioritizing travel to give my body a break.

Life in the city is increasingly suffocating, we have to face countless stresses and worries. There are nights when we just wish we could close our eyes and fall asleep right away. But it is still something too far away because our minds are often full of constant thoughts and worries.

At 20, I packed my backpack and went, mostly on long trekking and mountain climbing trips. At 30, I packed my backpack and went, but this time just to find a good night's sleep.

Not only me, but now most of my friends around me value a good night's sleep while traveling.

No more trips or trekking, but after returning with tired legs, the after-effects last for the whole working week. We don't mind traveling just to sleep!

We go out and often compare ourselves to each other: "Traveling is simply changing from one place to another to sleep."

But to get a good night’s sleep, the thing I pay the most attention to in every trip is the room and the space in harmony with nature. Because most of the time, I will pamper myself in the new room, on the soft bed. Then we can comfortably wake up without having to hear the alarm clock every morning.

I remember the first time I experienced traveling alone - just to sleep - was in Moc Chau plateau (Son La). Thanks to a friend's connection, I found a lovely, quiet homestay, about 10km from the center.

That time, I rented an attic in the middle of the forest. Waking up in the morning in the attic filled with the clear sound of birds singing, I comfortably read books, listened to music and hummed songs to myself.

After a good night's sleep, I visited Ban Ang pine forest alone, then went to the garden to pick ripe strawberries myself. At night, I enjoyed local specialties from the skillful hands of ethnic chefs.

Another time, after a series of tiring days, I left the capital and took a flight to Da Lat. I had a good sleep in the cool weather of Da Lat without having to listen to the whirring sound of the air conditioner or the hot fan every summer night.

Then on subsequent trips, whether with friends or lovers, they are no longer strangers to my hobby of traveling just to sleep.

There were trips where friends woke up early to catch the beautiful sunrise. Instead of urging me to wake up, they just let me sleep, covered up in the blanket.

When my body feels comfortable after a good night's sleep, I'm ready to put on makeup and dress up to explore the cuisine and beautiful scenery there.

You can carry your backpack everywhere, "conquer" from North to South, on a motorbike up the winding passes of the Northwest or go trekking and climbing mountains for long days.

But there are days when our feet get tired. At that time, we tend to seek a peaceful place, temporarily leaving behind "the days that make us tired".

So why not take a spontaneous trip, pack your backpack and go. There, we can comfortably lie down on a soft mattress and enjoy a peaceful sleep, helping the body recover after tiring working days.
