Locals and tourists were delighted to see thousands of drones lighting up the sky on the opening night of the Nha Trang International Bay of Light Festival 2024.

On the evening of July 13, at April 2 Square, Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province, the Nha Trang International Light Bay Festival 2024 with the theme "Brilliant Galaxy" opened.
The main activity of the festival is the drone light show with the participation of 4 teams from the following countries: Korea, France, China and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
On the opening night, there were two performing teams, Korea and China. While the Korean team chose the theme “Nha Trang, the most beautiful bay in the world”, the Chinese team chose the theme “Khanh Hoa – the city of the future”.
The Korean team demonstrated their strength in pyrotechnics (firing fireworks without explosions), while China brought a light party to the sky of Nha Trang with many typical images such as: high-rise buildings on the bay, dolphins, Cam Ranh international airport...

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong acknowledged and expected that the festival will contribute to promoting tourism, economy and culture of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa to develop further.
“Today’s Nha Trang International Light Bay Festival is a very practical and meaningful activity. With the participation of artists, lighting designers and art troupes from many countries, I believe that this year’s festival will bring wonderful experiences, impressive and memorable moments to all of us,” said Mr. Phong.

Although the program only started at nearly 8:00 p.m., since the afternoon, the streets around April 2 Square, Tran Phu Beach, etc. have been crowded with people and tourists who came early to have a seat to watch the drones.
Ms. Le Thao Trang (36 years old, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City) shared: “At 5pm, my whole family rushed to the square to find a place to watch drones. In 2023, I watched drones at the Nha Trang Sea Festival and was extremely impressed. I hope the locality will maintain this activity as a program with its own brand of Nha Trang.”
Taking pictures of the drones, Christian Nuse (a Polish tourist) happily said: “The images arranged in the sky are very impressive, very Vietnamese. I was most impressed by the drones shooting fireworks and arranging the words Wonderful Nha Trang”.
Building Nha Trang's own festival brand
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Dinh Van Thieu - Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee - said that the Nha Trang International Light Bay Festival 2024 is the first drone light competition held in Nha Trang City, with the participation of 4 teams: Korea, France, China, UAE. Each team performs with a minimum of 1,000 drones, the themes of the 2 performance nights will be different in content and images.
“With the theme ‘Brilliant Galaxy’, Khanh Hoa aims to build its own festival brand, always brilliant, creating attraction, connecting and expanding domestic and international exchanges, contributing to promoting cooperation in socio-economic development of the province,” said Mr. Thieu.
