Also attending and chairing the conference were Mr. Nguyen Hong Hai - Chief of Office of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, Director of the Project Management Board; Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen - National Coordinator of small projects of the United Nations Global Environment Facility.
Raising awareness for more than 5,000 Farmers' Association officials
Speaking at the Conference, Vice Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union Pham Tien Nam said: Realizing the importance of strengthening support for farmers, especially young farmers, in creative startups, digital transformation, participating in the OCOP program and proactively meeting the requirements in the process of international integration, in June 2020, the Vietnam Farmers' Union issued Project No. 03 on "Enhancing the role of the Vietnam Farmers' Union in supporting farmers in creative startups, period 2020-2025". However, the difficulty and limitation of this Project is the lack of resources to implement the contents and solutions. Therefore, it is necessary to have the participation and support of organizations and individuals, especially international organizations.

The Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union has coordinated with the United Nations Development Program and the Global Environment Facility to implement the project of Raising awareness and capacity for officials and farmer members on creative startups and digital transformation, actively participating in the OCOP program in localities to build capacity for officials, members and farmers on creative startups and digital transformation associated with the OCOP Program.
The project has contributed to raising awareness for more than 5,000 Farmers' Association officials from the central to grassroots levels about startups and innovation in the digital transformation period, about the OCOP program through specialized training and propaganda products of the Project.

At the conference, Mr. Nguyen Hong Hai - Chief of the Central Office of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, Director of the Project Management Board reported on the project summary. Accordingly, the project was implemented in 10 provinces and cities: Son La, Lao Cai, Ha Giang, Hanoi, Hoa Binh, Quang Ninh, Lam Dong, Binh Dinh, Bac Lieu and Ca Mau.
The project will be implemented from April 2022 to April 2024. During the implementation process, the project has organized 10 practical programs and activities such as organizing training conferences to raise awareness about startups and innovation in the digital transformation period, dialogue conferences, forums... with the participation of many levels of Farmers' Union officials and members.
Through exchange and training forums, farmers learned about the agricultural production situation, the role of domestic and international agriculture in the modern context; policies to enhance the role of the Vietnam Farmers' Union in supporting farmers to start businesses and innovate; how the Vietnam Farmers' Union supports farmers in digital transformation and gradually participates in the digital economy; an overview of the digital transformation situation in agriculture.

Launching a handbook for officials, members and farmers
In particular, implementing the Project, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union in collaboration with the Global Environment Facility and the United Nations Development Program compiled and published the Handbook "Guidelines for raising awareness on community development, creative startups, digital transformation in agricultural production and the role of the Farmers' Union in implementing the OCOP program". The handbook includes 4 parts: Community development; Creative startups; Digital transformation; Implementing the OCOP program.
At the workshop, delegates exchanged, discussed and proposed ideas for the next phase of activities. Delegates agreed with the content and highly appreciated the results achieved by the Project as well as the quality, effectiveness and value of the handbook.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Vinh An - Vice President of the Farmers' Association of Tuyen Quang province affirmed: "The positive results of the Project have contributed to raising awareness among officials and farmer members about creative startups, digital transformation, and participation in developing OCOP products in the locality. In particular, one of the products of the Project is a very useful and practical handbook for officials and farmer members. This handbook is a very valuable and practical document repository for officials and farmer members of Tuyen Quang province in particular and officials and farmer members of the whole country in general.
Ms. An added: Currently, officials, members and farmers of Tuyen Quang province are participating very well in the project of treating waste into fertilizer at the source. Tuyen Quang has 65% forest coverage, and forestry development is quite strong. Tuyen Quang Farmers' Association really hopes that the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association and the Global Environment Facility of the United Nations Development Program will organize a contest on innovative startups for farmers.

In his closing speech at the Conference, Mr. Nguyen Hong Hai - Chief of Office of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, Director of the Project Management Board acknowledged and highly appreciated the opinions of the delegates at the conference.
"Through the opinions of the delegates, there was a high consensus that digital transformation in agriculture, farmers, and rural areas is an objective necessity. The Farmers' Association must be a bridge to lead and create a foundation for cadres and farmer members to participate in digital transformation, and digital transformation is a particularly important path in national integration. Farmers' Associations at all levels hope to continue to receive attention, support, and accompany farmer members to participate in creative startups, digital transformation, and participate in developing the OCOP program locally," Mr. Hai emphasized.
