Preparing for the FIFA Days training session in September, VFF has basically finalized the squad for the Vietnam team.
If nothing changes, the Palestinian team will be the target for coach Philippe Troussier and his team to compete, aiming for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers taking place at the end of November 2023.
Palestine is currently ranked 96th in the world and is considered a suitable opponent for the Vietnamese team. In the past, the Vietnamese team lost 1-3 to Palestine in a friendly match in 2014.
Previously in June, the Vietnamese team had two friendly matches with good results, against Hong Kong (China) and Syria (both won 1-0).
In the upcoming training session, the Vietnamese team will have more time to prepare as the V-League has ended. In addition, the plans for the U23 and Olympic Vietnam teams have also been agreed upon by the VFF with coaches Philippe Troussier and Hoang Anh Tuan.
In particular, coach Philippe Troussier can call up all the players. In the training session in June, for various reasons, Hung Dung, Van Quyet, Tien Linh... were absent.
Just like the June training session, Mr. Troussier gave many U23 players the opportunity to wear the national team jersey.
Thus, after U23 Vietnam participates in the 2024 U23 Asian qualifiers (expected to take place in early September), the excellent players of the U23 team will be promoted to the Vietnam national team.
The match between Vietnam and Palestine is scheduled to take place on September 11. VFF has not yet decided on the venue, but there is information that Thien Truong Stadium will continue to be chosen.
