Chess team won silver medal

Chinese chess

Lai Ly Huynh, Nguyen Thanh Bao, Nguyen Hoang Yen lost in the final match to the Chinese team. The Vietnamese team won the silver medal in the mixed team event.

Athletics

Nguyen Thi Oanh finished 7th in the women's 1,500m final. Two Bahraini athletes won gold and bronze. The silver went to an Indian runner.

Nguyen Thi Oanh's achievement was 4 minutes 24 seconds 19, while the winner reached 4 minutes 11 seconds 65.

Athletics

Luong Duc Phuoc could not compete for a medal when he finished 11th in the men's 1,500 meters. His time was 3 minutes 51 seconds 65.

Weightlifting

Tran Minh Tri did not complete the final of the men's 67kg. He achieved 130kg in the snatch, but did not compete in the clean and jerk.

Athletics

Nguyen Trung Cuong finished 10th with a time of 8 minutes 54 seconds 40 in the 3,000 meter steeplechase final.

He suffered from exhaustion, muscle strain and had to seek medical attention. Trung Cuong's achievements were not recognized.

Weightlifting

Nguyen Tran Anh Tuan and Trinh Van Vinh did not win any medals in the 61kg final. They finished 5th and 6th, with total lifts of 294kg and 292kg respectively.

Canoe Sprint

Ngo Phuong Thao finished fourth in the women's 500m kayak singles, with a time of 2 minutes 18 seconds 977. She did not qualify for the final.

Chinese chess

Nguyen Thanh Bao, Nguyen Minh Nhat Quang and Nguyen Hoang Yen won the right to enter the mixed final, against the Chinese team.

Volleyball

The Vietnamese women's team beat Korea 3-2 (16-25, 22-25, 25-22, 25-22, 15-11) and became the first team to qualify for the second round.

Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team will be in the same group with representatives from group A (most likely China and North Korea). With the victory over South Korea, the Vietnamese team will be counted as having 2 points in the second round.

Canoe sprint

Ngo Phuong Thao finished 5th with a time of 2 minutes 25.717 seconds in the first qualifying round of the women's 500m kayak singles. She will compete in the semi-finals for a place in the final this afternoon.

Kurash

Le Duc Dong was eliminated after losing to Esanov Umid of Uzbekistan in the round of 16.

rattan bridge

The Vietnamese team lost to Indonesia 1-2 (17-21, 21-19, 11-21). The team has two more matches against Myanmar and Laos in the group stage of group 4.

Sepak Takraw: Women's team wins first match

The Vietnamese team beat Myanmar 2-0 (21-15, 21-10) in the first match of the women's group 4 group stage.

Athletics: Nhi Yen enters the final

Tran Thi Nhi Yen finished with a time of 23.74 seconds in the women's 200m qualifying round. This is her best result this year. Nhi Yen qualified for the final.

Canoe sprint (speed boat racing)

Nguyen Thi Huong finished fourth in the women's 200m canoe singles qualifying round. She will compete in the final on October 3. The Vietnamese athlete's achievement is only behind Lin Wenjun (China), Brovkova Marlya (Kazakhstan) and Thiangkathok Orasa (Thailand).

Vietnam team waiting for second gold medal

The Vietnamese sports delegation has 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals and 12 bronze medals, ranking 16th in the medal tally. In Southeast Asia alone, the delegation is behind Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.

The first set of medals will be awarded in the mixed team chess event today. The Vietnamese team is temporarily ranked second after 4 qualifying rounds, behind host China and equal in points with Hong Kong (China) and Singapore.
