Changing the priority for high school graduation consideration for children of martyrs who died in Dak Lak

Speaking with VTC News on the afternoon of June 16, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Chuong, Head of Quality Management Department, Dak Lak Department of Education and Training, said that the Department has reported and is completing the dossier to send to the Ministry of Education and Training to allow changing the priority for high school graduation and university admission for student Nguyen Van H. (grade 12, Viet Duc High School, Cu Kuin district).

H is the son of martyr Nguyen Van Dung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ea Tieu commune, who died in the attack on the commune headquarters in the early morning of June 11 in Cu Kuin district.

According to the 2023 high school graduation exam regulations, student H is in priority category 2 - "having permanent residence in a particularly difficult commune or border area" and will receive an additional 0.25 points.

After H's father passed away and was posthumously awarded the title of martyr, the provincial Department of Education and Training completed the procedure to change priority status from 2 to 3. Priority status 3 is awarded 0.5 points for the child of a martyr who died while on duty. "This is to comfort and encourage H and his family, and at the same time ensure timely benefits for the candidate," said Mr. Chuong.

The Head of Quality Management Department added that after the attack, the Dak Lak Education Department also coordinated with the school to visit, encourage, care for student H and create the most favorable conditions to support her during the exam preparation process.

The Department requested Viet Duc High School to pay special attention to H's case, regularly sending homeroom teachers, teachers, and friends to share and encourage the student psychologically.

According to information from the Ministry of Public Security, in the early morning of June 11, a group of people violently used guns to attack the headquarters of Ea Tieu and Ea Ktur communes (in Cu Kuin district). Upon receiving information that someone had vandalized the headquarters, with the responsibility of the commune chairman, Mr. Nguyen Van Dung left his house and immediately went to the headquarters. On the way, he was murdered by the group of people.

On June 12, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang signed a decision to award the Certificate of Merit to 6 martyrs who died in the gun attack in Dak Lak. Of these, 4 were police officers from Ea Ktur and Ea Tieu communes (Cu Kuin district) and 2 were commune officials - Mr. Nguyen Van Dung (Commune Chairman) and Nguyen Van Kien (Party Secretary of Ea Ktur commune).
