Right from the first days of the new year of Giap Thin 2024, the Vietnam Engineering Team has simultaneously deployed many activities, such as building smart barracks, repairing and renewing roads and coordinating with UNISFA Mission agencies to identify new missions in the Abyei area.
Since the 3rd day of Tet, the Engineering Team has continued to carry out assigned tasks, including the Smart Camp construction project.
The project is divided into three phases with a total of 30 housing modules and utility and auxiliary works. Currently, the Vietnam Engineering Team has completed phase 1, phase 2 and 60% of phase 3. Of which, many modules (prefabricated house systems) have been put into use, including office systems, housing, dining halls, kitchens, gyms, and toilet systems. It is expected that in the first half of 2024, the Team will complete the remaining items: 3 housing modules, water treatment system, solid waste treatment system, repair station, generator area, solar power station, lighting system, security monitoring system and environmental landscape construction. In parallel, the Engineering Team has been implementing the construction of Smart Camp for the Nepalese unit at the UNISFA Mission headquarters (currently 1 out of 18 housing modules has been completed). It is expected that in the second half of 2024, the Team will continue to start the Smart Camp project for the Chinese Rapid Response Unit. Currently, the Engineering Team is also deploying forces to construct the ground (to build the Smart Camp), dig canals, build barriers, and build protective fences around the Pakistani infantry unit barracks in the Difra area, in the North Abyei division.
The team also took advantage of the dry season to open new branch roads and patrol roads, ensuring smooth traffic, serving the regular and emergency tasks of the Mission. Vietnam Engineering Team builds Smart Barracks at Highway Base. (Source: Vietnam Engineering Team) |
