Expedite the construction progress of Phan Thiet airport.

On the afternoon of February 11th, Lieutenant General Tran Don, Member of the Central Committee of the Party and Deputy Minister of National Defense , inspected the Phan Thiet airport project (Thien Nghiep commune, Phan Thiet city, Binh Thuan province).

During the meeting, the Binh Thuan Department of Transport stated that it had handed over more than 500 hectares of land to the Ministry of National Defense more than two years ago, but the project's progress is currently very slow, causing considerable frustration among local residents.

Speaking at the meeting, Lieutenant General Tran Don stated that upgrading Phan Thiet Airport to Phan Thiet Airport and from level 4C to 4E is entirely appropriate for long-term development.

This is a civilian airport but also a military airport. The Ministry of Defense will relocate the entire flight training school of the 920th Air Defense Regiment from Cam Ranh to Phan Thiet, as the current Cam Ranh training school is overcrowded and does not meet training requirements.

The General stated that the Phan Thiet airport project is progressing very slowly due to several reasons. Therefore, units of the Ministry of National Defense and the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province must expedite the progress.

“Binh Thuan needs to expedite the compensation process for the area reserved for the airport's second runway and the battlegrounds. After the Prime Minister's approval, the Ministry of National Defense can immediately begin construction of these facilities in parallel with the civilian zone investor,” General Tran Don suggested.

Discussions will be held regarding the auction of land at Nha Trang airport.

In addition, Lieutenant General Tran Don stated that next week, the leaders of the Ministry of National Defense will hold a meeting with the leaders of Khanh Hoa province to discuss the auction of Nha Trang airport land, as per the Prime Minister's decision, in order to raise funds for the construction of the military zone at Phan Thiet airport.

Deputy Minister Tran Don requested the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province to immediately establish a working group to coordinate with the working group of the Ministry of National Defense to further accelerate the progress of the Phan Thiet airport project.
