DNVN - At the workshop Connecting Vietnamese and Japanese businesses towards applying Japanese energy-saving technical achievements, on March 6, Japanese companies introduced energy-saving technology with the expectation of contributing to realizing the goal of sustainable development in Vietnam.

The workshop "Connecting Vietnamese and Japanese enterprises towards applying Japanese energy-saving technical achievements" was organized by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) in collaboration with the Department of Technology Development and Innovation, National Technology Innovation Fund (Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam).

Workshop Connecting Vietnamese and Japanese businesses towards applying Japanese energy-saving technical achievements.

In recent years, the issue of energy saving has attracted attention all over the world. In developed countries such as Japan, many energy saving technologies have been developed and deployed at a rapid pace. In Vietnam, the Government is also promoting many energy saving initiatives to achieve sustainable development goals.

In this context, this year, NEDO will conduct a “Survey on the Potential of Introducing Energy-Saving Technology to Small and Medium Enterprises in ASEAN”, focusing on Vietnam - a country with particularly remarkable development among ASEAN countries.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Viet An - Deputy Director of the Center for Technology Transfer Support, Department of Technology Development and Innovation emphasized that Vietnam is currently in a period of strong economic development, with energy consumption growing at an average of 3-5% per year and expected to continue to increase until 2030. Vietnam has committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 at the COP26 Conference.

This is an important goal, requiring Vietnam to make more efforts in developing and applying energy-saving technologies and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Japan is a pioneer in the development of clean and efficient energy technology. Advanced solutions from Japan not only help improve energy efficiency but also contribute significantly to reducing CO2 emissions and enhancing the competitiveness of Vietnamese enterprises in the international market.

“Today’s workshop is the result of close cooperation between the Agency for Technology Development and Innovation, the National Technology Development Fund and NEDO. This is an opportunity for experts and businesses from both countries to discuss, share experiences and seek cooperation opportunities in the field of energy-saving technology,” said Mr. An.

Mr. Nguyen Viet An - Deputy Director of the Center for Technology Transfer Support, Department of Technology Development and Innovation delivered the opening speech at the workshop.

Previously, a number of Vietnamese and Japanese enterprises have reached important cooperation agreements related to energy saving. Typically, TDH Ecoland Urban Development and Investment Joint Stock Company (Vietnam) has conducted online discussions and exchanges with J-Top Company (Japan) on the experimental installation of a circulating water recycling system using renewable activated carbon. This proves that the potential for cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy saving technology is huge.

The potential for cooperation between the two countries is not limited to energy-saving technology but also extends to areas such as renewable energy development, efficient use of water resources, and green manufacturing. With NEDO’s support, Vietnamese enterprises can access advanced technologies such as water recycling systems, waste heat recovery technology, and energy-efficient industrial solutions.

The Vietnamese government has been implementing many policies to support the green transition and technology transfer in the field of energy efficiency. Tax incentives, green credits and innovation support funds are important tools to help businesses access the necessary resources to apply advanced technology.

At the same time, Vietnam is actively building a legal corridor to encourage public-private partnership models in developing renewable energy and clean technology.

“We hope that through the workshop, Vietnamese businesses will have the opportunity to access advanced technological solutions from Japan, thereby improving energy efficiency, reducing environmental impact and increasing competitiveness.

The event will open up many opportunities for strategic cooperation between management agencies, businesses and research organizations of the two countries. The Department of Technology Development and Innovation will continue to support businesses in the process of technology transfer and application, creating the most favorable conditions to promote innovation and sustainable development," Mr. An affirmed.

Delegates discussed at the conference.
