In addition, the wholesale and retail store system will develop widely, covering even rural areas, creating favorable conditions for the trading of goods. This is an important premise for the province to continue planning and developing trade and service in a civilized and modern direction, in line with the development orientation of the province.
Development of commercial service infrastructure
In recent years, all levels, sectors and localities in the province have focused on planning and developing trade and services, meeting people's consumption needs and creating momentum for socio-economic development. In particular, focusing on investment resources, building and upgrading the market system, simplifying administrative procedures; implementing many policies to support, encourage and create conditions for economic sectors to develop, especially enterprises and cooperatives that need to expand the scale of the system of supermarkets, trade centers, convenience stores, wholesale and retail...
In addition, the province prioritizes resources for developing transport infrastructure, especially regional transport connections and key projects, creating synchronization from urban to rural areas. Up to now, the transport system of the whole province has basically been synchronized, 100% of communes have car roads to the center, creating favorable conditions for trading goods, developing regional and local products.
The management of houses in the field of trade and services is of interest, the industry and trade sector strengthens its grasp of price and market developments; distribution enterprises, shopping malls, supermarkets, etc. proactively stockpile goods, ensure supply-demand balance, stabilize the commodity market, and prevent shortages and supply disruptions that cause sudden price increases. The inspection and control work against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods is focused on by the authorities.
From the direction and planning of focused and key investments based on the potentials and advantages of the province, over the years, the commercial infrastructure network in the province has been expanded. The most promising in the "picture" of trade and services is the retail market with the participation of diverse economic sectors. Civilized and modern commercial systems such as: Trade centers, supermarkets, convenience stores have gradually been formed and play an increasingly important role in the distribution and circulation of goods, creating jobs for thousands of local workers.
The province currently has 4 shopping malls, 16 supermarkets, 58 Winmart+ stores and 197 markets, including 3 class I markets, 13 class II markets, and 181 class III markets operating stably. In addition, the province has built a retail system with more than 20,000 grocery stores and nearly 270 gas stations operating, well meeting the consumption and exchange needs of the people.
In addition, the province has also made efforts to promote digital transformation, creating a premise for developing the digital economy. Most retail stores and supply chains have promoted the application of e-commerce in the circulation and distribution of goods; 100% of supermarkets and shopping malls have cashless payment devices; some central markets have deployed the 4.0 market model, supporting traders and customers to make transactions such as transferring, depositing, withdrawing money and making cashless payments.
Thanks to the synchronization of infrastructure and the openness of mechanisms, the proportion of the trade and service industry in the economic structure of the province is increasing, currently accounting for 40.4% and is identified as a key economic sector in the economic development strategy of the province, contributing to solving employment problems and increasing income for people.
Fair growth rate
With determination and efforts to exploit existing potentials and advantages, the trade and service industry has added many bright colors to the overall socio-economic "picture" of the province. In 2024, the trade and service industry's growth rate reached 6.0%, contributing 2.2 percentage points to the province's GRDP economic growth. Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue reached over VND 57,500 billion, up 13.0%; transportation activities met transportation needs well, with revenue reaching over VND 7,600 billion, up 10.3% over the same period. Exports maintained high growth, estimated at 15.4 billion USD, up 39.6%; imports 14.8 billion USD, up 75.8% over the same period. Connecting and promoting trade, supply and demand activities were focused on. Based on the list of products participating in the One Commune One Product (OCOP) Program that has been recognized, the province continues to post information and images of OCOP products on the e-commerce trading floor giaothuong.net.vn. Up to now, the floor has had 333 booths with 1,013 products and services, an increase of 18 booths and 51 products and services compared to 2023.
Comrade Dang Viet Phuong - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade said that the growth rate of the trade and service sector in recent times has proven that the orientation and solutions that the province has been directing and implementing are correct. To promote the development of trade and service, the province continues to implement mechanisms and policies to attract investors and businesses to develop trade and service, especially utility and entertainment services, in line with current trends and needs. Focus on developing and expanding trade infrastructure, harmoniously combining traditional trade with modern trade, in line with the nature and development level of the market in each region; Focus on renovating and upgrading the market system in all areas, encouraging the development of market models that ensure food safety... At the same time, coordinate with functional forces to strengthen inspection, control, combat smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, poor quality goods, goods of unknown origin, protect the rights of consumers and businesses supplying goods.
With the right orientation and appropriate solutions, we believe that the province's trade and service industry will continue to grow strongly and develop comprehensively, becoming a key industry in the province's economic structure in 2025 and the following years.
