On April 18, educational institutions collected application forms for admission to grade 10 high school, collected and checked direct admission application files of students; completed the issuance of student codes and passwords to grade 9 students.

Like previous years, students can register up to 3 options for the general system, in which options 1 and 2 must be in the enrollment area, and option 3 is random. Students cannot change their options after registration.

This year, students in Hanoi will take exams in three subjects: Math, Literature, and Foreign Language. This is the fourth consecutive year that the Hanoi Department of Education and Training has organized exams in three subjects. On the morning of June 7, candidates will take the Literature exam, and in the afternoon of the same day, they will take the Foreign Language exam. Candidates will choose one of the following languages: English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, and can register to take the exam in a foreign language other than the language they are studying at secondary school. On the morning of June 8, candidates will take the Math exam.

The formula for calculating the score is as follows: Admission score = (Math test score + Literature test score + Foreign language test score + Priority points (if any). In which, the test scores of each subject are calculated on a 10-point scale. The new score this year is that all subjects are not multiplied by a coefficient.

Regarding the admission principles, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training clearly stipulates: Recruit candidates who wish to register for admission to the school, taking the admission scores from high to low until the quota is full. The Department only considers admission for students who have enough exams according to regulations, do not violate the exam regulations to the point of canceling the exam results, and do not have any exams with a score of 0.

This school year, Hanoi has about 127,000 junior high school graduates, down nearly 6,000 compared to last year. The total target for public schools is 79,000. Thus, the passing rate is over 62%, a slight increase compared to 60-61% in previous years.

Comparing the number of junior high school graduates to the total number of passing targets this year, the average competition ratio for public grade 10 is 1.62, equivalent to previous years (in 2024 the average was 1 to 6.6, in 2022 it was 1 to 6.8 and in 2022 it was 1 to 6.67).
