The Vietnam Maritime Administration has just submitted to the Ministry of Construction a detailed plan for the development of land and seaport areas in Da Nang for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.
Many wharves exceed planned capacity

Goods passing through the port are mostly containerized, accounting for about 61% (8.52 million tons; 750,000 TEU), general and bulk cargo about 27% (3.81 million tons), liquid cargo accounts for a small proportion of about 12% (1.09 million tons).
Up to now, Da Nang seaport has 14 hard wharves with a total length of more than 2,800m.
Currently, the main volume of goods passes through Tien Sa port with 11.2 million tons of goods. The average growth rate of goods in the period 2020 - 2024 is 5.9%.
Regarding passenger volume, in the period 2020 - 2024, the number of passengers passing through Da Nang seaport achieved a growth of 14.88%. The number of seagoing vessels increased by 2.52%.

Statistics show that currently, Da Nang seaport has 14 hard wharves with a total length of about 2,800.3m, 4 buoy wharves have been announced to operate.
There are two public waterways in the waters of Da Nang seaport: Da Nang maritime waterway with a total length of 9.697km and Lien Chieu waterway under investment with a length of 5km, width of 160m, and waterway elevation of -14m.
According to the announced decisions, Da Nang seaport currently has 27 anchoring points for ships with a capacity of 15,000 to 50,000 tons, 5 anchoring points for ships with a capacity of 50,000 tons and 22 anchoring points for ships with a capacity of 15,000 to 50,000 tons. At the same time, there is an anchoring area waiting for bridges, waiting for channels, combined with storm shelters for ships in the seaport waters managed by the Da Nang Maritime Port Authority with an area of about 500 hectares, meeting the anchoring needs of 5,000 ton ships.
According to the report, the volume of goods passing through Da Nang seaport in 2024 has exceeded the scenarios in the Detailed Planning of the Central Central Seaport Group (Group 3) for the period up to 2020, with a vision to 2030 (forecast to reach 11.1-13.2 million tons in 2020). The volume of container goods exceeded the forecast by about 39%, while the remaining types of goods have not met expectations.
Meanwhile, the actual exploitation capacity at Tien Sa port is 11.28 million tons, also exceeding the planned capacity by 11.68 - 31.16% by 2020 according to the plan (from 8.6 - 10 million tons). However, Tho Quang port area and Lien Chieu port area have not reached the designed capacity.

Particularly, Lien Chieu port area (1 wharf with a length of 100m) and My Khe port area (transfer wharf and buoy wharf) are invested according to the planning.
About 31,510 billion VND invested in seaport system
